It's definitely stiffer and not as accommodating on bad roads but not too bad at all. If you're going to lower, I strongly recommend switching to non-runflat tires and to go with sport shocks along with springs. You'll be extremely disappointed if you don't

I do have non run flats, will the sport shocks help a lot on the ride?

Yes, I put H&R Sport Springs on my car with stock shocks and hated it, the car is so bouncy and unsettled. Couldn't be happier with the Bilstein Sport Shocks I put on.

Oh it really made a huge difference? There are a few different brands to consider for springs, eibach H&r, bilstein....should I also get the same brand shocks as well?

Yes, it is a night and day difference. I would not do springs alone.

The only springs specifically made for the xi are H&R. There are some Swift springs that can be used and I've heard of people using Eibach as well. You won't find springs and shocks made by the same brand unless you go for a full coilover set up so that shouldn't matter.

There are only a few things I am afraid of....
#1 - Messing with the suspension and effing my car up (warranty, etc)
#2 - crappy bouncy ride and losing the comfort with passengers compared to stock height (have 18s installed)

Talking

KW v1 Coilovers and Forgestar 18" Wheels. Personally the ride feels improved with less bounce, smoother, and I hug corners much nicer. Though, I did add sway bars and strut brace. Also, using non-rft.

The warranty thing is all in how you feel about voiding your suspension warranty so that's really up to you.

The ride will be stiffer and sportier - not nearly as floaty. As long as you pair proper sport shocks with lowering springs, the ride should be more than tolerable, even with a full car.

Very nice!! A little spacer for the rear wheels would make it look even better!

How bad can the suspension actually "mess up"

A 5mm spacer would do the trick.

I used to have H&R Sport Springs on my car and never really noticed how harsh the ride was til I switched to my KW V3s. IMO you should just go for coils, I regret getting the springs due to the rough ride and the very minimal handling gains. Coilovers are much more confortable (depending on your setting) and benefit the cars handling much more

I wonder how the V1's compare to the V3s? I am very tempted in the coilovers, and even the V3's but I dont think I can see myself spending 2.5k on the suspension at this time. Now 1.5k, thats a diff story....

What offset are your rear and front wheels?

I would not recommend lowering springs. Your shocks are going to be destroyed after a couple years. If you want to do it right, get some coilovers. This is my e90 on stv1 coils and VMR 18s.

Front - 18"x8.5" +40mm
Rear - 18"x9.5" +33mm (plus a 12mm spacer in that pic...I would recommend 10mm or less)
