I have recently purchased a 2005 e91 330i manual m sport. with comfort acccess.

Remote central locking didnt work, i thought big deal probably batteries or a fuse. oh i was wrong.

ive watched a thousand videos on this topic and so far i cant seem to find a fix.

so far ive checked, fuses, remote batteries, visually checked the diversity antenna
i have checked the wiring in the tailgate and someone has already repaired 2 wires, i checked the voltages and i am getting power to all of the cables going to the main plug, so cant be a break in the wire?

I also tried another diverty antenna (from an lci with different part number), the only change then was the comfort access keyless entry started to work but still no locking/unlocking via remotes.

the only thing left to try now is a diversity antenna with the same part numbers.
Before i shell out for this 50/50 chance of it working, what have i missed? am i supposed to check another module in the car? more wiring or fuses i might have missed?

help me out im ripping my hair out over this. i wish it was a broken cable like everyone elses probelm

Double check the wires... give each one a good yank.

It's possible that it's the diversity antenna, but I'd be willing to bet money that it's not and it's wiring.

You've sort of lost me with the bit about "the main plug". I'm not sure what that is. I mean, I WISH our cars had the tailgate wiring all going to a common plug. It would be a whole lot easier to change out the whole tailgate if that were the case. As it is though, you really have to check each wire. Over the years, I've found that they break inside of the insulation and therefore don't appear broken until they finally snap in half...or you give them a good tug like StradaRedlands suggests.

How's your radio reception? Whenever I've had a wire break that took out the remotes (that's happened maybe 3 times since I've owned my car), I've also lost radio reception.

Please provide Last-7 Characters of your VIN. I'll then provide ISTA ScreenPrints of wiring, Connector Locations, & Connector View, along with test suggestions. If you had INPA, that would be a "Plus", but we can diagnose with a simple $10 Multimeter. You just need to be able to read DC Voltage & Continuity to Chassis Ground (Resistance/Ohms).

Please CAREFULLY check for ANYTHING on Tailgate NOT fuctioning properly: bulb NOT lighting, such as Tag Lights, Reversing Lamps, Fog/Brake Lamps; Rear window & Tailgate latches, Rear Wiper/ Washer, Cargo area interior lamps, etc. Is the Radio reception as strong as it should be, or only several stations (weak antenna)?

No-Brain approach is to simply look inside wiring Looms at Hinge Plane, on Right Vehicle side of tailgate. Find broken wires, identify by Colors (Primary color/ Tracer color) and post list of broken wires (by color) here. Closeup photos a Plus.
