Question Installing SFI 5 or 6-Point Harness in E91 for Time Trials

Moving up to time trials and safety requirements require SFI or FIA 5- or 6-Point harness. My E91 with factory sport seats is still a DD. The more I search, the more complicated fitting a harness becomes due to possible rollover scenarios. Are you using a bolt-in roll bar or harness bar? Did you modify your factory sport seat for sub straps or opt for a race seat?

Do not run factory seats with 5 or 6-point harness! If you want to stay with factory seats, the most you can do is a 4-point Schroth Quick Fit or Quick Fit Pro.

You best bet is ditch the factory seat all together, if the rules requires 5 or 6 point.

Why do time trial with a E91 on N51 engine, just wondering? Doesn't seem like it would be competitive at all for a car of that size. To be honest, I would recommend another car for that kind of events.

Cloud9blue nailed it - don't attempt to run stock seats with any harness system that has anti-sub straps as you'd have to cut a hole in the seat. Yes, you can use the Profi anti-sub strap with the Quick Fit Pro if you had racing shell seats but it's not that great an idea. A roll bar (professionally installed) and a true six point harness with race shells is the only way to meet the requirements. Ain't cheap though, going to cost six to seven grand if done right.

Cloud9blue and justpete: thanks for clarifying the harness issues. Race seats aren't practical in my DD. I'll just stick with HPDE, and eventually get a track car.
