+1 on the milage. I thought it was because I keep mashing the pedal for some stupid reason hoping that the lag won't be there
That is crushing my MPG, but I believe the 29.2 itself is as well. I CAN NOT get above 21.5 mpg average. I used to regularly get 25 or so.

Sweet - lots of lag, and hell, at $5 a gallon, gas is dirt cheap so why not just crush our gas milage too!

Anyway, most importantly, keep us updated with what happens to your car today. Good luck!

My useless response from BMW + minor update from my SA

Finally got a note back from BMW (I wrote the BMW AG address but I guess they filter it to NA) - useless:
"Thank you for contacting BMW of North America regarding your 2007 335i. I was sorry to read of the concerns you have with your vehicle's driveability concerns" (<-- no, not a type - verbatim) "I suggest speaking directly with the service manager at your BMW center about the issues you are experiencing with your vehicle. Ther service manager at your BMW center has access to BMW engineering and regional representatives who are in the best position to review your vehicle and discuss your concerns. If you have any further questions, please respond to this email or contact the Customer Relations and Services Department at 1-800-831-1117."

Annoying.

Anyway, I wrote my SA and copied the service manager. I got a note back yesterday that he is looking into it and will get back to me soon. I guess I'll write him back now, stating that the newer v30.x seems to suck too, and the real solution is to roll this damn thing back, which I imagine they can not and will not do.

So we're gonna have to get an aftermarket tune done if we want the car to perform pre 29.2 now? Unless BMW does something to fix this on their own

Yes. If you go pick up your copy of the Webster's Dictionary and flip to the word "ironic" you will see this as its definition.

what happens if you dump some high octane in with these new versions? does the lag still hang around?

I know its not the highest octane, but I put 93 in her today (I think dealership only put 91 in last week when I picked it up) and after work I was feeling frisky, so I pushed it a little bit, and it definitely felt better than last week. But who knows, maybe I was just excited to drive...

I will see how it feels tomorrow and the rest of the week. I'm sure some people however have put 93, or even higher maybe, into their cars and have still experienced the lag.

94 octane doesn't change anything on my SSTT V29.2

Going in to service Friday, and like someone else posted, I don't want the car back until this lag is dealt with.

the only way around the lag of 29.2 is with a tune that has direct solenoid control, PROcede v3 or JB3

That is a canned response from BMWNA.

So sick of this. We need a lawyer to get stuck with 29.2 and bring up a class action or something...then he can give them a canned lawyer response back.

I'm a lawyer.. But to be serious and practical I won't be able to sway the BMW world myself.

However, I don't get my car back for another 30 days roughly. When I drove it a few weeks ago, I'm pretty sure there was lag. But I don't really have a comparison other then when I test drove it back in late '06. I'll need to a) get my car back, b) test drive another 6MT stock pre 29.2, c) then deal with it.

I'm hoping they have a solution by then.

Yes. Not good news though. We need to make dealerships roll us back to 27.x until this is fixed. When my SA writes me back, this is what I'm going to ask for. I doubt they'll do it, but I can try.

Had 29.2 and I bitched and moaned at my SA. Took my E93 in yesterday to get her reprogrammed. There was quite a few upgrades and can report that the lag is now gone. I will find out tomorrow exactly what they did and give you guys a full break down of what you need to ask for to be done to your babies.

Just go back from the BMW dealer an hour ago and I let the Sales manager drive my car. He could not belive what he was driving!!! He then took me with him and we drove his 07 335i (NO ECU UPGRADES) and it was a completley different car. ABSOLUTLY NO TURBO LAG. And here is another thing...we parked the cars side by side and started both up...(they were both warm) and his had a completly different sound. His car had a great sound mine did not sound at all like his. I could here the difference between our cars. His sounded raspy and very good and mine I could hardly hear. Anyway, he got together with the SM and they are going to summon the regional service tec rep. I am thrilled that someone at the dealership noticed the difference and what a sizeable difference it was with about 5 people standing behind our cars when revving them a little. Ill keep ya posted!!
