Help me y'all
Recently bought myself a 2011 335i with 48,000 miles. Yesterday I took it into the mechanic since there were some recalls on the blower fan wiring and an airbag. More importantly my car overheated yesterday TWICE on my way there. Seems to only do it when the ac is running. So I had to come to a complete stop while the car automatically slowed down with a red warning light. Is this the so called "Limp mode"? Anyway they told me I need a new water pump and thermostat. I can do that myself but I wanna know if y'all agree if it's the pump or not before replacing the wrong part. Thanks

Common problem read all the DIY's you can before doing this.
Pelican parts has some search ytube and there is DIY and maintenance sub forum here. Pelican Parts, Turner Motor sports , FCP euro are some of the parts places used here. You could run diagnostics on it first . And it needs to be with a scanner that will read all the BMW codes not a generic . Suggest getting a coding setup with Ista D and the Inpa suite see the coding board its cheap to do so . It does take some PC knowledge to set it up. |

WP issues were discovered almost 10 years ago now. Just search the forum; it's well documented on how to diagnose and repair.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."
