Vacuum canister lines - which way??

Hi Guys,
Had to remove the vacuum canister on my N54 (135i) but forgot to mark the top vacuum lines (did the bottom one though).

First question is can these be put the wrong way around and if so what are the consequences?

I though the attached diagrams would solve the issue but the realoem one shows the pipes to the top of the canister in the opposite orientation to the one in the photo. Can anyone clarify this please?

cheers,
Ron

Yes, I know my engine bay is dirty, and I the oil housing gasket is going to be replaced next week.

They are both the same. There will be 0 effect to swapping them unless there is a leak in the lines etc then a wastage rattle issue may move to the other turbo. This is unlikely though as the solenoids are tied together on the actuator side.

I got to mine from the top. You can feel the metal nipple on the rear wastegate actuator. It is all done by feel, you will have no way to visually see it.

My service advisor said I need 4 8s which totals to 12ft and Comes uncut.
My service advisor claims these tubes are causing wastegate rattle. If I replace w BMW oem lines and wastegate still rattles I will qualify for new turbos as part of 82k mile extended warranty class action lawsuit / recall

Exactly what I had to do to get my turbos replaced. Just buy 12ft and as you remove the old hose, cut the new hose to match it's length. The blue piece is same hose as the rest. I color coded it so it would be easier to spot in the pictures.

For the parts marked 5 and 6, there is a plastic connector in between those yellow sections of hose. I would just replace it with one long hose.

Sorry I mean 4 8s the thicker tubes bc 5 and 6 is just thick n think combo. Will the thicker tubes be OK for fitment? I imagine they will shield better. Or is service advisor just being lazy only quoting me 1 part?

On 5 and 6, the thin part that isn't colored yellow is actually hard plastic, instead of hose-plastic-hose, eliminate the plastic and just use a hose all the way through.

One hose size for all of it, same thickness.

+1 on the Verocious hose. Great stuff! I replaced all my OEM hoses with the 3.5mm size. Ended up reusing the hard plastic pieces that sit over top of the valve cover. No issues there.
