Ok I've read every thread on here that I can find regarding replacing the dim yellow bulbs in the lci halogens with this that and the other but it seems weird that in all these threads no one has mentioned simply replacing the H10W 12v halogen bulb that is standard with a brighter version of the same bulb. 20v versions are quite easy to find. Am I missing some obvious reason why no one has just done this?

Most people seem to go for either the RD LEDs or the HIDs Direct (MTEC I think) ones but neither really seem to be that bright in day light and some involve changing connectors which isn't ideal. I've read good things about the LUX ones or whatever it is from America but the price is just crazy. The bulbs cost more than I payed for both lights.

More power = more heat = damage - expensive to rectify.

It seems like a lot of people do this on the E39 which uses the same halo bulb as the lci E90. From what i've read no one has had any issues.

i would be very careful about putting in a higher wattage bulb. I have seen the tips of the angel eyes melt in the E90's

on the E90 LCI Halogen the bulb is behind a glass heat shield, you would probably get away with fitting a higher watt bulb, but might be wise to test it first to see how hot it gets.

Picked up a couple of bulbs for £3 to give it a go. The e39 has a similar set up and i've read about a few people doing it on them without dying in a fireball.

Well the results are in. I got 2 sets of bulbs for £6. One was a 20V H10W and the other was a T4 something or other that had the same base and made crazy claims about white light and super brightness with xenon technology.

The H10W 20V seemed a bit brighter than standard but still very yellow. The T4 whats it was ultra shite.

Looks like i'll be stumping up for some LED's

This is what I did but as others have indicated you do not want to go too far because the heat damage with some sets can be pretty bad.

I did a RD install. I did it as part of the process of changing my headlamps over to LCI. I posted the install pics up on here a while ago.
Works for me and never had any radio interference or problems

Do a search for my thread.

since then I changed the low beam bulb for a matching colour temp one

I have LCI Halogen on my 2006 E90.

Yup, I've read your posts on this and I think it was your DIY I was looking at with the tape round the AE. In fact, I've read nearly every post on this in the UK section. It seems that a few people think the radio interference only happens on diesels.

If I go the LED route then I'll be looking for some that are straight plug n play as I can't be arsed with splicing wires, I'm not the best with electrics. At the moment I'm leaning toward the Mtec ones as they make all the right claims and being supplied through a reputable supplier I should get my money back if the claims are bogus.

Lux seem to be the best but you may need to sell a testical to fund a pair.

I did see a UK member on another BMW forum supplying LEDs that looked identical to the Lux ones for half the price. They weren't advertised for the e90 but I think they would fit.

Okey, Im thinking about buying the Racing Dash V2 6W LED for $90USD or Lux for Halogen.
But I dont know if 6W is safe compared to others 3W.

I'm looking at LEDs swell, but want an option that requires the least amount of hacking and slashing to wiring/connections etc
