e90 BMW 335d Crank, No Start (2E3D, 3F11, 3F21, 4A5E, 4A27)
Using BMW Standard Tools 2.12, bmwfault.codes and the forums to search for answers, but, im stuck...
Symtoms: Cranks (even sputters), No Start... Here are the error codes according to INPA, and what i have found online so far... 2E3D - Interface, EWS-DDE. 3F11 - Accelerator Pedal, Sensor 1, Signal. 3F21 - Accelerator Pedal, Sensor 2, Signal. 4A5E - Glow Plug, Cyl. 2, Activation. 4A27 - Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), Missing. Lets start with the IBS (error 4A27, according to bmwfault.codes) and the service notes for how to diagnose the system... Can someone explain this procedure to me? *Check line between DDE and the other bit-serial data interface users: D_BSD - Disconnect BSD users one after the other and check each time whether the fault still occurs. - The fault is caused by the BSD user which is disconnected when the fault no longer occurs. - Check BSD line at this BSD user. - If the line is OK, renew the component. |

First tell us what happened before all of this. Car just die? Maintenance?
First thing I'd check to see is if you're getting RPM while cranking. If not, dead/dying CPS.

Okay,
It started when the exhaust pressure sensor feed tube came loose and melted the engine harness. Something definitely shorted because the engine sputtered for a second the died. I immediately disconnected the battery and had the car towed. A lot happened since then. The harness was replaced with brand new from BMW. dde tuned by tunemyeuro, and did the full abc delete as well as replaced the water pump/thermostat. Since reconnecting the battery it seems that it wont take a charge or hold a charge. Even with booster cables voltage barely makes 12.0 volts. And here we are |

IBS could definitely be your issue. That will cause a no start condition (or so I've heard). I'll assume it's all connected correctly in the trunk?

Spent the day replacing the ibs module and glow plug module. Still will not start... 4A27 comes back every time i clear errors in inpa. Another symptom the car has is the dash malfunctions all show up. And ive tried two different battery tenders and neither one will boost the car over 12.3 volts. Disconnecting the charger and voltage instantly drops to 12.0. Not sure why this is... The strange thing that happens when the dash malfunctions light up i seem to loose communication with the car and inpa cannot scan the dde for errors. But it is intermittent. When the car does communicate with inpa the error 4A27 comes back and the car will not start. Either way, the car will not start.
Just fyi to update the thread. Fault 4A5E has gone away and not returned since replacing the module. About the glow plug module. ive read that a bad thermostat will cause them to fail. Interesting fact, i drove the car with a bad thermostat and shortly began having glow plug activation warnings. Other things i got to today, like priming the lift pump didnt help no start. The car will sputter and i can smell that its burning fuel. Although i have not confirmed this. Actually four new codes showed up all relating to injector activation. 441C, 442C, 443C, and 444C... this got me pretty worried because the injectors never had issues before the wiring melt down. Now all of a sudden 4 of 6 |

the harness that melted was the engine harness, which was replaced. the injector harness is a separate harness and was not visually damaged.

besides a visual look, what would you recommend? cant find a single schematic of the injector wiring. from what i can see the harness itself looks fine, i dont see any splits or damage and everything is connected.
i am wondering if i should send the dde to the tuner and have them do a reflash |

All of the injector codes are gone... Still have fault. ibs, missing. (4A27)
And a new one. error code 3EED -Power management monitoring: Standby current violation. A standby current violation is detected if the standby current is > 80 mA for at least 30 minutes during activated closed-circuit current monitoring. |

ista might still be sold by people online but i dont feel like paying for it... from what i understand joker open sourced it and thats when people started taking it and selling it for profit.
