Obtaining ISTA
Hello There. I am looking to get a copy of ISTA D and possibly ISTA P. I do want INPA as well but was able to source that through BimmerGeeks. I have been using Bavarian Technic as my main diagnostic tool up until now. I would like to have access to some of the resources that ISTA D offers which is the important software for me to get and the rest would just be nice to have. I have been overwhelmed reading all of the hundreds of threads on where to find it and download it but am looking for a concise solution that works. I have found two sites bimmerdiagnostics.com and bcables.com that both appear to have a version that your can purchase and download direct. Has anyone used either of these sites and could recommend them and or have another place they would recommend sourcing/purchasing it from? Sorry, I am not new to BMW but new to ISTA and not all familiar with getting it and installing yet. Thanks in advance.

..on this topic..
I am in the process of installing ISTA_v4.27.22 - Sedoy Standalone. I used the installer, and after many hours (and many gigs of HDD space used) it finished. But running it the first time, I am getting prompted for key and License. Found the license file on earlier version on the server, but what to use for key? Install instructions don't mention it? Actually tried again and discovered the key entry box is disabled, but so is the Next button (presumably because of no key?). What am I missing? Supposed to look like this: ..but mine looks like this: Last edited by gdog; 01-25-2021 at 09:50 AM.. |

If you look at this youtube that shows the install, the key text box is already populated (at 1min 26 secs) when he gets to that step. |

You are doing something wrong, or at least might be any missing files. I have installed it more than 100 times and never prompts license key

The sedoy stand-alone is a 1 click install launcher. No need to manually install it. In the download will be instruction photos on how to configure the files for automatic install, if you do it correctly it won't prompt you for any keys or require you to set anything up like you're seeing in the YouTube video.

I've installed sedoy standalone ver 4.25 (Dec 2020). Starts no problem, no key required but I cannot connect to my car. I am using K+DCAN USB cable (works with some other apps). I had to install ISTA to drive D because of the size (it installed itself in D:\EC-APPS\ISTA\). I edited EDIBAS.INI (in D:\EC-APPS\ISTA\EDIBAS\BIN) to point to the location of ECU. I do not know what else (.INI) to configure? Where the COM port is defined?
BTW, I assume that for my BMW 328i E93, I need to select BMW/PKW (PKW= Personenkraftwagen, and not BMW/MINI) thnx |

ISTA sedoy version - configuring OBD K-DCAN
BTW, my EDIABAS folder does not have OBD.INI
Shall I create one? E.g.,: [OBD] Port=Com9 Hardware=USB Shall I change in Ediabas.ini 7.3 From: Interface = REMOTE to: Interface = STD:OBD ? Quote:

Be sure you have all the C++ excutables installed as per link.
Better and easier to debug the cable interface with Inpa. If you have installed on another drive I don't know how that effects Ista but on Inpa it has to be installed on the C drive to make calls to the sub program folders. |

ISTA Download, MEGA Site formerly Linked by BG
Linked BELOW is the MEGA site that used to be linked on BG Downloads page, for ISTA+ Download.
I installed and use this version on my 3/2007 328xi; NO issues. Installation instructions in txt file which appears when you "UN-Zip" the compressed file, 9.98GB. You DO have to FIRST Install BMW Standard Tools & proper Datens for YOUR model (E89 Datens for E9x). I installed BG "Standard Tools" and Datens per their Downloads page. Here is MEGA site for ISTA+: https://mega.nz/file/a1wUmYCD#G0C3_H...o9uQ4EpxjI8oZs George |

I'm assuming the self-installer will also install the enclosed "Standard Tools" as well; yes? I uninstalled all prior BMW s/w. |

The thing is we know the bimmergeeks version works and we don't know
anything about the standalones. Also you can update what every version you get with the software upgrade tool but also most likely any version you get will be uptodate enough to do anything worth doing to your car. Later version's started to do things like the F series and beyond. Last edited by ctuna; 02-08-2021 at 04:30 PM.. |

Where can I find the working bimmergeeks version of Rheingold / ISTA-D etc? Their website only has the Standard Tools as far as I can tell

The link is in entry 14 . George came to the rescue it's the same one that

I have and account but it was established a long time ago .
Maybe they want Money now before you can download not sure. I paid 5 bucks for a months continuous high speed access then. The first time I tried to load a Ista D software it was painfully slow but I only had 25 gb download speed then. |
