As opposed to just asking for advice, I instead am asking for any recommendations on books or periodicals that can get me better acquainted with the market, terms, and how to buy/sell. Advice on what to buy is appreciated (i have been looking over this thread and find all of your knowledge to be very interesting), but I will get more out of understanding what goes into purchasing decisions than just heeding the advice of internet strangers.

Anyway, I have 2 books that I am just starting to get into now - A Random Walk Down Wall Street (Malkiel) and The Intelligent Asset Allocator (Bernstein) (which is currently WAAAY over my head).

Any other advice aside from books and periodicals (maybe you could also suggest a good financial investing forum) would be much appreciated.

And a last question - If you had millions in the bank (not me) and could ONLY CHOOSE ONE, would you focus more on Real Estate or the Stock Market for financial gain?

Thanks and looking forward to popping up on this thread.
Bueller? Nobody in this thread is willing to help at all? That's surprising.

This is a stock market thread.. I wouldn't expect people to weigh in on real estate.

You should read Richest Man in Babylon. If I had millions in the bank I would certainly not focus on just one of the options but probably a combination of both. If the if the stock market or real estate market crash, at least with real estate you might have a house to live in?

on ST basis mkts were way oversold...gotta relieve some pressure before selling resumes...$RUT has already told the story...SPX and Dow to follow soon...choppy to slightly upward bias for few days.

Charts show we are at support lines on Dow and SPX but since smaller RUT names broke, larger SPX stocks should follow.

But its smart only to short with smallish positions cause its tricky to trade ST and IT bears...much easier to go long high flying stocks during bulls thats for sure.

Safe thing to do is to sit out during bears.

Bottom line, are we in a bear?..ST for sure, IT bear probable..no sign we are in LT bear imho.

Hey guy, maybe if you responded to the other 90% of the post that wasn't real-estate based......

1730 will set a temporary floor, but if it breaks through and bounces back up to that redline watch out, selling will be intense then.

If 1730 holds, then its business as usual.

Stops should have been set at 0.12 for SGLB at break-even in these type of mkts....and same for VJET...I was out of VJET at 34 level.

DDD cratered today due to downward earning revision.

I bought SGLB at .13, and set my stop at .13. Cleared yesterday. No harm, no foul (less transaction costs).

Any thoughts on TWTR? It's down over 12% in AHT due to its ER, I suppose it'll gap down tomorrow and continue sliding until next week.

Hey Mact, how have you been doing? I just finished my undergrad and have a few months before I (if accepted) start a phd in finance. I should be more active again!

Well worth the risk. Twitter is still overvalued. Cashed out +200% this morning.

Tips for the new guy to trading

Searching does the heart GOOD !
Where did some of you learn to trade ? Did you just jump in and learn along the way or what ?
I saw a good "receipt" of some ones earnings and loss report. I have been studying to start options/stock trading. Would love to get some inputs and opinions. Been trying to get hours of studying in so I could finally strat trading.
