265! That is not enough tire for the 335! I think 275 is getting closer. Still waiting for my 18 x 9.5 wheels to show up. I wish I could stuff a 10" wheel up front without cutting my fenders and have to install some flares! BTW, I signed up for the BMWCCA Golden Gate chapter event at Laguan Seca in Jan. Are you going? |

Yes NT01 do hum like a MOFO....but doesn't really bother me. I don't drive it much any way. If you keep the pressure, hot, under 39-40, you should be fine.
Harold, I probably pickup a good set of 18x10 from you in the beginning of the year. 275 all around should be perfect man, at least for my car anyway. I am running 245/275 right now and they do run large. 9.5" wide wheel just about cutting it for 275 NT01. I think 10-10.5 might be better for that tire. |

I heard that the Nitto NT01 is the same as a RA1 and that Nitto is owned by Toyo Tires. The R888 is the new tire and it good out of the box...but gets less good as time goes on. So the NT01 and RA1 are the same compound..but with different tread patterns. The R888 is also prone to roll over more.

Hey Guys! Haven't been here in a while. Hope you are all well.
Spoke to the Nitto rep over a year ago about the differences between the RA1 and the NT01. Comfirmed same compound and much stiffer side wall on the Nitto over the Toyo. 2/32" less tread depth out of the box and can be run full tread without shaving and last better than the RA1 without shaving, due to of course the 2/32" missing, but also because of the tread design. Any of these tires are camber sensitive and wear the outside edge fast if you are not set up good. I have heard that the R888 has similar side wall construction and the tread compound is similar, but I would venture to say that it is probably the same as the parent company could save money here. I have been through 18 (three sets of six) NT01's on two cars and been very happy with them. I still run the RA1 on the E36 as this tire works very well on that car and I get a lot of miles out of them. Nitto's are less expensive than the RA1 or R888. 275 35 18's can be had for about $220 ea. Good luck on your decision. See you guys later. |

Thanks for the info. I went with the Nittos over the R888s due to availability and cost. Negative camber will be an ongoing issue though.
