Speaker problem when using AUX

Hi,

Ive noticed something with the drivers side sdoor speaker when using the AUX port.

When my iPhones plugged in, the drivers side door speaker intermittently fails and it's only the front left playing. If I adjust the balance, it makes no odds. After a while itl come back on and play as normal.

It happens when turning, accelerating, braking, but also while stationary in traffic for example.

Anyone ever had this? If it was a loose connection, surely it wouldnt do it while stationary? And it's only on AUX. Tried other mp3 players, and other cables too.

Cheers

I had this. Was just a dodgy wire/connection between the aux and the cable I was using. Fiddling around with it made the front speakers cut in occasionally or cut out. If you haven't ever taken your door cards off or doors apart it's unlikely to be the speaker wires come loose, and if it only happens with the Aux then it is 100% either what I mentioned, or perhaps the wiring itself for the aux underneath the storage compartment is loose/poorly connected.

Nope, no alpine upgrade and I've checked all the connections. I wonder if it's and iPod/iPhone issue when using AUX?

It's going into the dealer tomorrow for engine problems so I'll ask them then about it.

Sounds 100% like a poor connection, most probably at the 3.5mm jack socket, you're losing 1 channel momentarily.

If other devices don't do it, then it must be the ipod lead jack, try wiggling it in the socket when you're listening.

The aux-in is only a dumb analogue line-in socket, it doesn't know what you are pluggin in it, could be a record player for all it knows, so there can't be any 'compatability' issues with ipod etc.

Mines is just back from the dealers today.

The typical "We didnt find a problem Sir" was quoted, and I was sent on my way. It's a right pain.

Its only started recently, so no idea whats causing it.

I had the same problem with a lead I had made and it would not seat correctly and it would lose one side. Change the cable i phone and i pod's can be a right arse to get a correct fitting for

Still experiencing this issue even after visiting the dealers twice.

Funny tho...when the front right speaker goes wonky, a swift thump to the arm rest on the left hand side or top seems to correct the issue for a while!

Surely that would mean a loose connection somewhere? Just don't
Understand how or why this would happen.

How hard is it to remove the centre console and arm rest to get into the AUX socket?

Just a straight forward 3.5mm jack to 3.5mm jack straight into the AUX port.

I was going to take the centre console out and see if the connection is knackered.

Those 3.5 to 3.5 are notoriously dodgy on the iPhone. I bought one of these & have had no problems since. Try it before disassembling your console!

I'd tried three different 3.5 to 3.5 cables & experienced similar problems to you & generally bad quality sound. Bought one of the dock cables & I've never had any issues since.
For £3.50 its worth a shot

You reckon? I find it weird that it's only started suddenly. Also that a swift bang on the armrest soon sorts it out.

Still no luck! New cable arrived n didn't make a difference! Pretty confused now! Only affects from right, but soon as I play a CD/Radio the speaker works fine!

Smacking the armrest seems to get AUX working too!

Anyone any other suggestions?
