Anyone got a decent sounding exhaust on a 320d?

I recently had a 335 conversion done at the back, I know it doesnt make any difference when it comes to noise as only the backbox is being removed.

I want to know is there another way to make the exhaust sound a little more louder and fruity?

Thanks

I have to say BCS back box is the way to go. I have a full replacement system from cat back. Straightish through pipe removing mid box and then BCS back box. Does give a slightly better sound especially when regen kicks in.

Generally a 320D/ 330D etc you can run with straight pipe no silences. Someone on here run a 335D and it sounded a bit like a jet turbine when on full boost. Pretty good. I've run mine with the back box off and the car was even quieter.

With a BCS back box its a resonator and does sound bit better but you still get the lovely clatter up front.

Its a shame you done conversion as will be selling my exhaust soon.

Did a quick sample vid during a cold start a while back

DPF on a 320D is further up in engine bay and part of the cat.

If I get time I will borrow friends gopro and go for a run

Not true mine with DPF in place but no back boxes is virtually silent. Only reason it has the sound it has is due to the resonator in rear can.

I still wonder why BMW put not only a mid box but a huge rear box on the car when a straight through pipe is just as quiet. Would love to know the engineering decision for it.

Thats bloody amazing! What exactly did you get done? I did the pipe from the dpf down to the tips, however it changes from a 2.5" bore to a 2 towards the exhaust tips, and guess what... still quiet as fxck paid over £400 in total now I want to cry LOL

So just a straight through 2" pipe with tailpipes?
What downpipe does it have? standard or uprated?

Oh I will be doing it as the droopy tailpipe looks pony. You got any audio of how loud it is inside the car?

My cat back SS is coming off the car next week if anyone is looking for a new system. Open to resonable offers.

Inside the car you get a bit deeper rumble but its not boomy. The kids are more than happy to fall asleep in the back on the motorway. Only when regen kicks in on the DPF does it get loud
