Well can't say for sure if it was the valve cover or ESS that was giving me issues. During long highway cruises, the car would go into a limp mode. Once in limp mode I could hear a whistling noise and the idle was very rough. I was told that the Crankcase vent valve was bad and needed a new valve cover and while the valve cover is off to go ahead and replace the ESS since they commonly go bad after 100k miles. Oil gets in them and once it does, it will fry the sensor pretty much.

Mine had a little bit of oil so if it wasn't fried yet, it was going to be soon and I would not have wanted to take the valve cover off a second time. Very time consuming (but not really difficult) job.

Oh ok just making sure, because mine is hesitating when I downshift like I have to give the pedal a few presses to make it go, I checked it but no oil....

I also see you have bc coilovers. How are they? I'm in between those or ST coilovers....

I've read mixed reviews on both. I would really like to ride in a car with ST V1's to get a comparison. So far I am satisfied with my BC's. They ride pretty well for the most part. The front spring rate is a little too high though. If I were to order them again, I would leave the back rate at 12k and lower the front to 6k, possibly even 5k. I learned a lot about spring rates on these cars after I got these coilovers. Do some research and you will learn what I'm talking about.

Overall, it's a good entry coilover. Definitely a good buy if the roads are not torn up where you are. I also love the adjustability you get with dampening. Definitely comes in handy when you want a firm ride or when you want to soften it up for guests.

Well im gong to just update my to do list as of now. I want to get this stuff done by 2018.

Oil change
Water pump + t-stat + coolant flush + OFHG

transmission fluid + filter
diff fluid?

Intake and cabin filter
Brake fluid flush + alignment + rotation

Oil change
VCG + valvetronic motor gasket eccentric shaft sensor
VANOS solenoids + gasket ?

If i do all this, I think she'll be good for a solid 50k. I just hit 100k last month.

Instead of changing the valve cover gasket, I would plan on replacing the valve cover assembly. The crankcase vent valve is known to go bad and it is built in to the valve cover so while you are changing the ESS, go ahead and just put a new valve cover on. My CVV went bad around 114k miles so just be on the lookout for that. My ESS was starting to get oil seeping in at 114k too. I went ahead and replaced it while I had the valve cover off.

I bought this car with 36k on the odometer, currently around 70k a year and 2 months later.

M3 front control arms, not needed yet, but replaced anyway.
Leaky OFHG
Coolant flush
Replace all coils and plugs
Replace intake filter and cabin filter
DTML pump went bad. Replace.
Brake job
Battery went bad
Tail lights on the tailgate arent working, replaced them and they still dont work. No clue.
Auto Trans Fluid drain and fill
Undertray destroyed itself, made a new lip/undertray from aluminum.

I'm gonna take your advice on this one. ECS tuning has a valve cover for $380 right now.

Yeah I do a lot of driving. I live much closer to work now so that yearly average should start going down. Though, the 1100 miles I did over the weekend won't help too much lol

That's where I got mine along with the eccentric shaft sensor. Think it came out to around $680. Just did 1100 miles over the weekend and the car performed flawlessly.

N51B30 at 105k miles and replaced:

Leaky valve cover with whole assembly (cracked and gasket leaking)
Leaking oil filter housing gasket
Spark plugs (were white like the motor was running very lean)
Serpentine belt and tensioner (small tear in the middle of belt)
Power steering fluid
Oil change

Next up when time permits:
Oil pan gasket (seeping a bit)
brake pads (don't need but want to extend rotor life)
Both diff fluids
Transfer case fluid
Diff fluid
Water Pump and Tstat
Water hoses

The goal for this car is for it to never have to be on the side of the road dead. Want to catch everything before it happens. So far so good.
