Exclamation To all that take the Verazanno to Brooklyn

PLEASE AVOID THE LOWER LEVEL EXIT TO THE BELT PKWY EASTBOUND!!!!

There is a HUGE pothole that the city workers left open during the construction on the bride.

The Story:

Driving from my girl's house (who lives in Staten Island), I take the lower level of the Verazanno to go back to Brooklyn. Since there is construction bieng performed on the bridge, they have completley raped the regular exit to the Belt Pkwy and now you have to make a sharp left turn instead of a regular merge. As you go in to the turn, there is huge pothole, probably 8" deep.

I see it. However due to construction there is no room to move since there are barriers blocking you on your left and right. So what happens? I close my eyes, hear a loud bang, take a deep breath, and hear air hissing out of the driver's side front tire. I pull over at the closest rest area, take a look at my tire and it is ripped open like a can of tuna.

Here's the caviat, along with me in the rest area are 3 other people with ripped tires who ALSO like me, hit the fucking pot hole!!!

The rim doesn't look bent, just the tire ripped. I'm going to order new Pirelli P-Zero Nero's since winter is coming anyway and along with them I'll purchase the BMW fix-a-flat kit.

Conclusion:

THANK GOD for run-flat's or I would not be writing this post and would still be waiting for the tow-truck . I drove @ 45MPH back home just fine, car is just veering to the left a little due to the flat tire.

But please guys, avoid the lower level exit to the belt pkwy if you can...

Update:

Here are some pics I just took this morning with my BB Curve:

:sad0147::sad0147:

Also I just ordered some Pirelli P-Zero Nero All-Season's from Tire-Rack, should be here in a couple of days. For now I'm going to be driving my beater, a 2000 Infiniti I30t with 160,000 miles on it. Blah!!

Steve, I presume your out on the island? Just take the upper level when you cross the bridge. That exit is fine. Safe travels man!

to file a correct claim, it would be with the MTA Bridge & Tunnel.

File a claim with DOT and you will get fully reimbursed by DOT's contractor.
I have done it recently from a pot hole on BQE and got paid very quickly.
