BPC got inside of everything and gave me the green light after the cleanup was completed. They looked inside the blower as well, and determined it was clear too, didnt even harm the blades, surprisingly enough.

Can you get a hold of a mechanic's stethoscope? I think that's the only way to really start figuring out where noises are coming from under the hood. I just had to deal with a similar situation as my alternator failed (33k miles and the shaft/bearing developed excessive play, sounded awful!).
And also, duh, I forgot you had the vented hood, so cowl delete is even less necessary if at all.

I'll also make sure theres plenty of oil in there. I pray those guys checked the oil level prior to the dyno runs. I have faith they did, but my inner pessimist is coming out. -_-

I think those Vortech blowers are pretty noisy, the insides are gear driven after all. I would doubt that the SC would ship with oil in it. I would have thought BPC would fill the SC with oil as part of the installation. Have faith, I can't see BPC sending something out not working as it should. I have to say I am surprised by the arch liner though!!

What was wrong with ESS old intake location? Maybe even enough room to make it a closed design.

I agree w/ the shipping without oil inside part, but they mustve checked because the baggy with the 3 bottles of L00b () was torn on the corner and it looks like there was a SLIGHT usage of one bottle. And maybe they were meticulous and cleaned off the dipstick perfectly. That vibration is accompanied by the rough idle I experience. (not attrocious, but could be smoother.) I also can attest that the sound goes away when I'm moving! Just the beautiful subtle whistle/whine from the blower, then my pipes become the symphony. I think theres something wrong for sure, but I am trying to be optimistic and say I dont think its anything terrible terrible... Gonna have help and take a peeksie when its time for fluid swaps for the crankcase and the blower (that break in period or so... Ive read its ideal, and the oil will probably be über dark and this would be in my best interest etc) also to make sure the belt is good to go and staying in place (another tidbit I read, as well. Jumped between different platforms' forums reading the input from the other cats out there with a V3SI) who knows... MAYBE its the fuel mixture.

I could make it happen, but hotter temps or what have you.. Which begs the question: If thats the case, how does it perform in that config. in the Z4?

I can't imagine it would be that hot in that location at all. Even if it was, just cool the charged air like in almost every other FI application
Be a neat project to get thermal probes and compare AITs, ambient, filter temp, etc. with the two or 3 locations which are available.

drove all day, felt sooo good..
feeling like hot shit w/ ~300whp lets hope no one humbles me anytime soon. Torgus I feel ya! Just had that question because AJ was pretty firm on optimum areas for the intake and all that, I took that a smidge far thinking it was just plain bad being so close to the head. Im sure those elbows are cheap asf too, (he wanted like 150 or 200 for the Z4s... yikes). Once I get the big stuff established, I'd love to help ... FOR SCIENCE! Looking for DSSRs that are compatible w/ my car nao

No worries~ FWIW, aftee driving today and getting on it a little bit, as I walked in front of mt car after parking it in the drive, I did not feel an immense amount of heat (I'm sure if I opened the hood, naturally, but that hood is very thin and has no insulation at all) BUT if I had a garage, as previously stated, I'd be down for some cowl deletion for sure! Can't hurt to want to have it as cool as possible in there. It would also behoove me to get my headers coated : one day...

The SC is quite noisey but runs smoothly otherwise, so I pay no attention to it. Search Vortech V3 gears chatter on the internet. I have heard far worse.

Got my kit yesterday, and getting excited to install. As you can see I do have the same hose too and must be an addition with the ESS kit from what I saw on their website. But I will make it fit!

I think that you use the silicone 'molded'/dented straight tube to go off the plastic molded TMAF sensor piece straight down past the frame rail and then to the flexible tubing (maybe with a 45-90* bend) to air filter and placing the air filter behind the front bumper.
SC-->180* plastic TMAF tube-->molded/dented silicone tube-->Flexible tubing-->air filter. |

Seattlesquash make sure you delete that mesh grill piece that gave Noir all those issues.
I would love for one of you SC guys to post some 0-80 videos, or a time slip. Really would like to know how it puts the power down! I think a 3.73 final drive swap would complement the SC nicely. Are you guys tired of hearing me champion the diff swap yet? Lol From everything I’ve seen so far I believe full n/a mods + 3.73 diff swap > supercharger (at its current level of development). But a 3.73 diff swap with SC would be the cats meow I think! That should be a low 13’s quarter mile set up and make a sweet/reliable daily Last edited by Biginboca; 08-24-2018 at 09:09 AM.. |
