I am having the error codes when trying to code a used FRM module all the other modules are codable except for this one. I’m not sure if it is the DATEN file that is bad for the E90 or some thing else is wrong, but I am seeking help on here, because I see the exact same issue I am facing from others

Do you though? Your pictures are of your laptop. The software focus of this thread is an android app.
Also no one else has mentioned anything remotely similar to your issue in this thread

This thread focuses on things you can do with the protools app, which based on your photos, you aren’t using. No one mentioned FRM issues.
BUT I have added how to default code the FRM using protools.

It’s in the first post.
The first post is continuously edited to add new things the app can do.
The bmw coding forum is where you’ll find help. You just need to start your own thread.

Sorry, for the dumb question. I’m currently a Foxwell scan tool owner but trying to figure out what diagnostic and coding software to get for my Laptop.

Bimmergeeks standard tools is a good place to start, for laptop software. It's just a trusted and free package of bmw's factory tools like inpa, NCS expert, etc.

If you have an Android device, I also recommend bimmergeeks protool - it's way more user friendly than inpa or ncs expert, but has most of their functions. Well worth the investment. In my opinion.

So is there a way to reset service due? I have a oil change needed and general service due .... I would also like to get rid of the speed sensor alarm but only until I have actually replaced them. It is annoying and I won't have the time for a few months.

You can reset the service reminders from the main screen.
Click vehicle-click maintenance reset(or something similar to that)-click the service you want to reset.

What speed sensor are you talking about? The wheel speed sensor?

Yes, the wheel speed sensors. The passenger rear and driver front both are throwing codes but I haven't had time to check to see if it is the sensors or the slotted piece on the axles.

You can clear the errors to see if they go away.
You can’t disable the error/notification.

My DIY experience and capability with wrenches is at least a 7 out of 10 (don't have a problem dropping a transmission to install new solenoids type of DIYer, no gasket is too complicated and I successfully replaced two N54 turbos and coolant, lube, and air piping to boot).

I suck - have never done- coding, and am low-novice with diagnostics (using only the Schwaben 510).

I can't navigate the Master license purchase of Bimmergeeks Protools and the like - I messaged them, but no reply. I literally have no android apps to my name, never have, so google app store is foreign to me. I have no such phone or tablet, but am willing to buy whatever device needed just for this purpose.

Please get me pointed in the correct direction.
Just figured this out yesterday. Buy an 8” amazon fire tablet for 40$ and i can send you apk’s (downloads) needed to be installed to get google play. Here is what i ended up with

No it's not and no they aren't. This thread is about an instrument cluster problem, and later touched on using ProTools for coding the new one.

You are trying to hijack the thread to get help with using ISTA, and the Standard Tools included with the ISTA download. Not remotely the same thing.

Here is a list of options that can be coded via Protools.
I will edit the post and add more options as I find them, or add options that someone else posts in the comments. Feel free to comment other options you’ve used!

A quick guide on how to code options.

Example: Setting fog lights to welcome lights.
(1st selection-Main category) Safety.
(2nd selection-Sub category) FRM.
(3rd) Coding
(4th) Edit coding
(5th) It will prompt you to make a back up. You can make a backup if you want to save your settings before changing anything else.
I made a back up for my E90 FRM. A back up is good in case a module is default coded and you lose all your settings.

Once in edit coding, you will see a “popular” category, this lists the options other people are coding.
Standard coding shows almost all the options available.
Expert coding has some things that are not in the standard category, but it’s not in English.
(6th Select what you want to code) Click welcome light fog lights
(7th Change the option to enable
(8th) Click finalize and done. Now your fog lights should turn on when you unlock your car if light switch is set to Auto.

I highly suggest coding 1 thing at a time so you can easily reverse it if you do not like what you have coded.

EDIT: New feature.
If you’re unsure of what you’ve coded, it now shows you all changes that do not match factory settings to the module you are viewing.
Click the module you want to view changes in.
Click coding
Click edit coding
Click tools at the bottom
Click view parameter changes
It will show you a list of things that do not match factory settings.

It’s easy to use, but use at your own risk!

These particular options were from an e90. All options should be similar on all E chassis Bmw.

NOTE! There is differences between FRM1/2/3 and other modules.
Some options may not be available depending on your model year/module.

Protool Codeable options:

Light bulb error delete.
Safety-FRM-Coding/Edit Coding-disable cold and warm checks of the bulb.

Turn signal blink count 3 to 5.
Safety-FRM-Coding/Edit Coding-Turn signal blink count(4 options) all set to active/5blinks.

Interior-JBBF-Coding-wipers complete cycle-enabled.

Digital speedometer on BC menu.
Interior-Cluster-Coding-digital speedometer-enabled.

Adjust bulb voltage output.
Safety-FRM-Functions-Adjust voltages-adjust whatever bulb you want.
NOTE! It is recommended not to exceed 14V on any bulb. I have adjusted some bulbs to 14V, but actual voltage on pigtail reads 12V.

Cold temp warning removal.
Interior-Cluster-Coding-temp warning-enabled.

TPMS delete-FTM enabled
Disconnect TPMS module first right rear on top of battery in trunk for pre LCI. Behind right rear wheel liner for LCI.
Vehicle-Vehicle options-Click edit-find and unselect $2VB-click save-click save both locations(CAS&FRM)- App will prompt you to default code CAS&FRM(maybe a few other modules depending on model yr)click ok.
Default coding your CAS/FRM will restore factory settings on them. Take notes of any options/changes you had in those 2 modules.

Default code/code in New/USED FRM.
Safety-FRM-functions-default code FRM.

Enjoy.
Do you know if I could turn off the belt tensioner for code 93a9 zk1 belt tensioner in this app? I keep getting this code I've changed the tensioner and the code keeps coming back. Thanks.

Question

I have a 2008 328xi Touring & a 2011 328xi sedan. Does anyone have issues with coding out cold weather warning ⚠️❄️? Protool codes both cars perfectly fine. Except the cold weather warning. It won’t go away. Being in Colorado the elevation & temps while driving constantly change, giving the annoying chime over & over.

Great info! This helped me to make the decision on buying the ProTool license. Will be testing the diagnostics and play around with the coding over the weekend.
