Need mechanic on san diego for e90. Overheating pls help

2007 e90 with 60k miles, oem water pump and thermostat. verheated yesterday and limp mode after 25 min drive and then all of a sudden red thermostat and limp mode while i was parallel parking. Temp gauge showed barely above 220. I let it cool 2 hrs, ran coolant purge procedure. Noted some spurting/air, just a little. Pump worked normally. Drove again 25 min to repair shop, did not overheat. Let it idle another 10 minutes, reached just past 220 mark without warning and i iust turned it off.
Had water hose cylinder head to thermostat housing replaced by shop 1.5 yrs ago and coolant replaced at that time, nothing done to coolant system since. Was done at same time as oil filter housing gasket and valve cover gasket replaced.
Would the purge have fixed it? Should I worry and not drive? Could it be thermostat?
Looking for someone to look at it and diagnose and possibly repair
Thanks!
Rebecca
