You could take a shot at trying to code it with k/d can cable.
Read the Rad file change cdc to acktiv rewrite it . CDC should pop up on the menu and you should be able to reread the file in the radio as a double check. The only thing the ICOM cable buys you for coding is access to the Most Bus Modules . It is safer to update modules with Icom though(all modules). The remote coders sometimes send you the cable as a rental but you have to put down a deposit. I would try to call a few of the coders in your area first. For single code feature I wouldn't pay more than 50 bucks. |

Also when I contact a coder what should I’m tell them? that I want to activate the cd changer and this is what’s involved in the coding: add $672 and remove $694 to the 2URAD, CAS and FRM |

You can do the VO coding method or more direct is to just code the
Radio module. If you do not have a most bus module now you may have to turn on the Most Bus . To do this Look for Ring Status in the radio file and turn it to aktiv. Ring Status = Most bus enabling A coder would need to put 672 into the Frm and cas then default code the Radio. The process is described in the beginning of the thread. If there worth there salt all you should have to tell them is you want to turn on the cdc feature and make sure the Most Bus is turned on. As far as the physical location of the fiber optic you either add it in as the instruction sheet said or if you have nothing else on the Most Bus you can just plug it in to the back of the Radio direct . There should be a light shinning out of one side of to fiberoptic cable at the fiber cable plug that you plug into the Box if you did it right and the Most Bus is active. You could ask Bimmergeeks if you can't find it in the description.
Also they could give you a more accurate answer on how to get it done. |

Well....I managed to code it myself using K DCAN cable .. Many thanks for your help and the original poster for putting together this DIY. Sound is so much better than the aux port I was using previously.

Can I do something similar to activate satellite radio if I knew which codes to delete/add? I'm pretty sure I'd have to move some fiber optic cables in the rear junction box and then get the satellite module and fsc code? Last edited by Rube; 05-10-2020 at 04:57 PM.. |

If you already have the module it might be hooked up .
You could test it by removing the fiberoptic and looking for the light. Did it come with your car? There are some install procedures floating around here somewhere. |

I definitely don't have the satellite module as I checked but it is pre-wired for it. I'll look into it little further as I did see a thread on it previously as you mentioned.

Thank you I found a few threads as well. Seems pretty simple. Buy the sat module, plug it in. Move couple of the wires at the rear most junction. Add $655 and remove $693 to cas and frm.....now that I know how to do it! Then get a subscription.

Maybe you are confusing the SOS system with the Sirius satellite
receiver SOS = emergency calls and alerts when the car crashes. SAT =short for satellite receiver to Sirius sat radio |

SOS is definitely dead though. Sad, it actually worked for me once -- but it WAS a little pricey. |

SOS can't be done because there is no support for 2g in the US
and most other places now , it's not because the hardware in the car suddenly won't work. There is no signal for it to work on. Sat(Sirius) Radio still exists. A lot of BMW dealerships will tell you that retrofits can't be done yet they are done by DIY'ers on a regular basis. The trouble is with the we don't support that attitude. I mean there is even a procedure for it written by BMW. http://www.e90post.com/goodiesforyou...iriusRadio.pdf If it worked once all you should need a new subscription. Unless there are some kind of reception problems in your area not satellite pointed at it. Last edited by ctuna; 05-12-2020 at 11:34 AM.. |

I'll go check out the Sirius activation again. I remember talking to a Sirius rep at the time and they just couldn't do it. I guess I'll check again to satisfy my curiosity. Again, I don't think highly of the service in general but now I gotta know. |
