How does the car feel? Have you ever added race gas before? What do you think would happen if I put that in my lawn mower?

I didn't goof around too much, was conserving as I only put in a couple gallons. I will see how it feels tomorrow on my way to bandi and at the track.
So SID, I'm pretty sure you are in. Anyone else in? |

Altitude is brutal! What were the MPH's? That's more of a true test of how much HP you have vs someone else. ET's are just how well you can launch off the line, and HP to a lesser extent. |

Even if you shifted at 6000RPM, it would not have made that big a difference.
99MPH? Hmm, sounds really low, you sure you weren't on stock map? Probably just practice man! |

Afterwards I was thinking about it and maybe I was on stock map? I am still iffy about the pedal map switching.

Sorry I didn't have the chance to make it guys. Work was real busy. I didn't even get out of there until 6:00 pm. Maybe I'll catch up with you guys next time. Anyways, E92-SID, I think you were on stock map. 99 mph seems really low for a JB3 considering the car goes 0-60 is less than 5 seconds stock. Something doesn't sound right. I wish I would have had the chance to meet you guys up. I would have liked to see how it would have compared to the V3 on the track.

According to this, your DA's were at 7600+ feet, lol!!! At sea level, the 335 will do about 13.5s@104MPH according to several magazines. The general consensus for a NA car is that they are ~1s slower at Bandimere than they are at sea level. If you weren't in limp mode, then you were definitely in stock map...you should have at LEAST been pulling 102-103mph, even on a bad run with JB3 map 2 or 3. How did Forza do? |

Density Altitude, basically calculates what altitude is equivalent to the conditions present at the time where you took them at. Takes into account temperature, humidity, barometric pressure. For example, higher temps will raise your density altitude, and have an adverse affect on how your car will perform, cooler temps will obviously help.
Your car will throw an engine light (looks like a picture of an engine with a yellow or red light) and you will feel your power drastically reduced. Basically it shuts off the turbo's to help put less stress on the car and lower the heat to help you drive off somewhere safe. Most of the time a restart of the car will clear it...I actually threw one last time I was at Bandimere. Threw it right before I passed the 1/4 mile mark, pulled over by the gas station, restarted, and it cleared itself. Never found out why it did it. |

+1. It will show a orange color engine symbol and half of the symbol colored in and half blank. I threw one when I was putting the V3 into the car one time and had a fuel pressure code. Just like what Racey said, it will usually clear itself when you re-cycle the key on/off.

Bandimere racetrack is at 5800 ft altitude.
A Bandimere tech official told me that an altitude adjusted time would be 0.7 seconds slower than at sea level. Last wednesday, I ran 14.2 seconds at 98mph with a completely stock engine in my 2008 335xi with streptronic. I did brake boost at the start but have no idea how high the rpms were at launch since I was focused on the tree lights. I used the paddles to shift at 6000rpm. |
