N55 E92 Top Mount Single Turbo

Wanted to make a post here because I'm thinking this will be pretty big news for the N55. I have a 6266 ball bearing top mount kit being made for me and will actually be arriving pretty soon here. As far as my installer and tuner are concerned, this is gonna be one of the first kits out there for the N55. Definitely stay tuned as I will be documenting all progress. I may be a bit slow on here, however there will be frequent posts on my IG: frozene92.

The kit is from DocRace, Silicon Valley Bimmer in Santa Clara California will be installing it and of course Twisted will be tuning. Stay tuned for more info

They have had a kit on their website, but no one's done it. We don't know of any at least in California but even at all.

I thought I posted but I must have not submitted it. How much did this kit set you back? Excited to see your results.

Kit including a stage 2 fuel pump and installation was about 9k. Kit itself was maybe $6500? I got the T51R mod as well. Very excited, I currently can't sleep

this is sick as hell. Given that this is top mounted, i am guessing this kit would work for all e series car with n55 engines?

Bottom mount kits like Speedtech STage 3 only work for certain models.

What wouldn't the speed tech fit? 5 series?

Speedtech kit was made for F series. I think the larger frame EFRs come close to/hit the frame rail on E series.

for example, like my car, some of the suspension may get in the way. Jeff cannot verify his kit would work on my car.

From what I understood the 7670 fit fine but the 8374 was iffy on the e chassis cars.

My question has always been I'm not sure how much more capable the 7670 is over the PS2 since Pure doesn't really put out any info on it. 93 oct pump gas numbers between the two would be interesting. I don't think I have the need for the larger frame EFR even if it did fit but I don't really know. Haven't seen a lot of speedtech customer results out.

Anyways, sorry OP for derailing your thread

I would start to worry about the transfer case and if you planned on pushing the 6266 to its limits, the transmission. You also need to shell out for upgrading the fuel system. I haven't installed my PS2 yet and thought about going Speedtech but I think the PS2 is probably where I should draw the line for the X1.

They finally did away with their intro price and at least on their site, nothing is ever in stock. On 93 octane with the PWG you should expect 410 - 440whp. I would love to see some "stage 3" turbos on pump gas.

Thanks for the info. I knew the intro price was up but hadn't heard about them being out of stock constantly.

To be fair, I have checked maybe 8 times since they announced the new option. Each time the E series kit has been out of stock.

Pretty sure the E series kit is out of stock since there technically isn't one. A few people have just made the F series work. You would have to contact him directly to get an E series kit.
