Removing front strut brace

Hi Everyone,

Curious if i could get some input here. I went to install my fortune auto coilovers and during the install process the adjustable knob rubs the factory OEM strut brace. It's not a "subtle" rub, but in order for me to install the OEM strut brace, i would be forced to put a good 1/4 inch of washers under the brace to provide clearance for the adjustable knob on the coilovers.

With that said the question is, can i remove the OEM strut brace all together and use an aftermarket brace/bar that goes side to side (tower to tower) without running into any real issues?

Was thinking of removing OEM and replacing with the ECS tuning brace (which seems similar to cusco, megan, and some others).

Thanks for the help!

you can get the m3 strut brace, it is open. The whole package deal is pretty expensive, but you can buy just the rings and follow someone's DIY guide here on hacking your stock strut brace to fit the M rings.

Yeah, i will end up getting the M3 brace in the event the ECS brace won't work by itself. I was just to avoid the extra couple hundred if I can.

I've seen a couple of the DIY, but not sure if i feel like hacking stuff up. I appreciate the input!

Never really said it was sacred lol, but I live in a apartment in downtown Boston with no garage or tools. So to me hacking isn't worth it...if I had my own garage and tools, then I may be on a different page.

An aftermarket strut bar does not replace the oem bars. The aftermarket bar compliments the oem bars.
