How long has the vargas stage 2 been out? Is it as reliable as the RBs? |

1)Get a tune and FBO and experience around 380-390whp first. This might be plenty. I know just a tune + dp's makes a huge difference for me. 2) Go stage 2 with FBO (think 430-450whp), closer to 500whp with meth (if you want to go that route). Keep in mind that stage 2 turbos (Vargas/RBs) also have a MUCH better hp/torque curve than the little stock turbos. This is as big a jump as the actual peak power increase is. You should probably tighten up the suspension and get a LSD/rear lock down kit to eliminate wheel hop and put the power down better at this power level. 3) Go Vargas Stage 3 or the Vishnu kit (500-700whp), which would also mean you would need suspension, bushings, wheel hop lock down kit, LSD, tranny upgrade (torque converter upgrade? i dont know automatics very well), half-shafts, possibly a driveshaft, new SMFW, and a slew of other things 4) Buy an M3, and add a compressor if you have the $

An awd car that is designed to have 500 hp is a whole lot different than a rwd car that is designed to have 300 hp but instead has 500 hp.

I read conservative, not a professional driver, and 07 335i Why do you want meth and upgraded turbos? How many miles on the 07? Yeah you want to invest 10 - 15k and be conservative? Dude do you know what you are getting into? Do you have a mechanic on will call? Hold on ill read the whole thread I'm missing something. Edit: I'm running 19 psi and I am very conservative. I didn't read who will be working on your car? You? If you can't do the work your will not make your budget especially if you want maximum power. Ill say go ProTune COBB FBO E40 if you want to be conservative. Or JB4, but I don't have any experience on that platform. Whatever you do keep us up to date, enjoy! To me conservative means low maintenance, pay to play.

It seems that really no matter what is said on this thread you have your heart set on a big turbo kit. Like Mike and others have said once you get into that league make sure to have some money set aside.
Running 500 WHP even with a conservative tune on a car designed for 300 base HP is hard on the car. To even get that power down reliably you're going to have to get an LSD and coilovers and what not suspension bits so add another 3-4 grand. As Mike stated above "there's are lots of potential failure points at this kind of power level, clutches, half shafts, turbos, etc". In short you can run a "safe tune" on upgraded turbos that won't grenade your engine, but be prepared to spend on the unexpected parts that will fail handling that power. |

Again you guys are missing the point i never said i want 700whp. all i said is what is good hp for my automatic car used for daily driving and i think after all the replies and the private messages. 90% agree that tune+full mods+RB or stage 2 Vargas is the way to go.
