H Lisa,
Welcome to the forum, we're not all crazy, just a little odd (some more than others) Quote:
As others have said I'd go for the USB option above the CD Changer. If you go the route of the USB interface then you can control an iPod from the steering wheel, which the AUX input won't allow. Additionally you can just use a USB flash drive loaded with MP3 files and as these are less than £20 for 4GB you can get a lot of tunes for your money. Are Xenons part of the visibility pack? They really do throw out much more light than the standard items which are often regarded as a little below par. Though most say that a change to some of these bulbs that put out more light helps a lot. Your choice of colour though is spot on and shows great taste!

New 320d M Sport Edition
Hi again
ok i dont know exact price of the M-Sport package, as i was definitley going to get an M-Sport as i think it looks so much nicer, but the edition model which has the new wheels, leather, bluetooth, sat-nav etc was approx. £1000 over normal m-sport price (less the hopefully good discount i was able to negociate with the salesman). i was wondering a few things if anyone could help: What MPG can i really expect to get? they say 54-57 mpg, but real world driving would be what? (i sometimes like to drive quite fast!) I know somebody mentioned a picture of the edition wheels that i will be getting, but is there anywhere i can see a picture of them on a silver 3 320 m-sport? i sorta had to imagine what they would be like, but seemingly i couldnt change them on my order to the M-Star ones i liked the best. Does my car really not have a spare wheel? Do these runflat tyres really keep going like the salesman said when i get a puncture? has anyone experienced this? (does this mean i wont have to stand beside my car looking helpless and getting lots of kind men stopping to help from now on!) ipod, thanks for earlier post, to be honest i have sort of used up my whole budget for the car, can i still connect & operate my ipod through the AUX socket? Is the sound so bad? I dont mind operating it via my ipod. Lisa |

I get average of around 44-48 mpg on mine. Mixed motorway and town driving.

With the runflats, you can run on them for x amount of miles (50 i think) and at only 50mph. So there pretty useless really..
I rekon you could get 50mpg, altho i have had my 335d down as low as 12mpg But i do drive RATHER QUICKLY Carlos

The ipod works fine through the AUX socket, but to be honest it's not great. Partly due to the fact that ipods don't have great audio fidelity in the first place and secondly the lack of amp means the sound is a bit weak. It sounds OK if you turn the volume up, but be careful if you switch to radio or CD as you will be deafened.

The M-Sport pack not only looks good, it gives better seats, and nicer steering wheel and dark head lining, which I prefer.
Lisa will your car come with the 177 BHP engine currently in the 2007 coupe? |

If you are more likely to use the iPod than the CD Changer then I'd put in a quick call to try and get the 6FL USB option in place of the CD Changer. Over here (at least when I bought) it was also cheaper than the CD Changer.
You can (I believe) load up the CD Changer with MP3 CDs and use it that way if you so wish. 6FL USB Option in action:

The runflats definitely work, but some people complain that the numb the handling. They also wear faster (if you don't watch your pressures) and it's very difficult to find someone who will repair them. Quote:
I would just delete the cd changer and get the USB instead. Cost is about the same and if you don't you may regret it, because there is no retro-fit. Sound works just as well via aux in - so it's just about the controls. |

New 320d M-Sport coming soon
Just quickly before i go home!
I think i need to get this USB socket so hopefully if i smile very nicely at my boss tomorrow morning he will see his way to the extra cost! Yes the visibility pack includes Adaptive Lights, Xenon Lights, High Beam Assist, Rain Sensing Wipers, Auto Lights, Headlight Washers, it was only a little more expensive than the Xenons & Washers by themselves i think. Yes it is the 177 bhp engine. (aren't all the new 320d's this since middle last year?) 45+ mpg will be fine for me so i should get that i think. Was that race car in the picture someone posted had the Edition 18" wheels? Lisa |

hI Welcome to the site, good choice of car but then again i am biased! I would think the usb would be a definite to order before its too late as it will make the ipod much more controllable. I only have the aux input and although it works ok you have no ipod control. The later runflats i understand ride better than the earlier ones but they do save you having to change a wheel at the side of the road (or getting somebody else to do it by standing at the side of the road looking helpless or sexy). Dont forget to put some pics up when you get it.

You could just change the CD Changer for the USB option and in doing so save your boss some money.
I haven't got the high beam assist, but I can say that the adaptive Xenons really work. Good luck twisting your boss around your little finger!

As others have said the USB option is nice but you can get the same sound quality using the normal "aux in", the usb option just lets you control it.
If you are using the aux in you need to get a cable that comes out of the bottom dock connector of the ipod, belkin makes one. Don't use the headphones connector as sound out of there is crap. Also if you are using the USB option with an ipod you need to buy a cable on top of the option at another £40 |
