Question about removing all 4 wheels on E90

So I have been searching through this site for a while now and can't really find anything that answers my question. I am going to get my wheels powder coated and would like to take all 4 of them at once. I don't have another set of wheels to put on during the process and from what I have found on here I don't feel real comfortable leaving the car on 4 jack stands. Does any know of any other solutions or are jack stands pretty much my only option. Thanks

What's wrong with jack stands..? As long as you have them positioned correctly they're the best solution.

Just looking for a different solution. With all the talk on here about jack/jackstands and where they should and shouldn't go makes me a little nervous.

jack stands on fine i have left cars up stands for months on end, i have done it to bmw yet but i sure the manual shows the proper jacking points on your car and i am sure they are much different then any other car ever go to shop and they say we cant put your car up the air because we don't have the speacial bmw lift

... you will be fine on jack stands

Left mine on jack stands for a few days, put them underneath the pucks that go right into the frame. Edit: And nothing went wrong.

As far as I'm concerned, there's really no magic behind jack stand placement...place them close to the wheel wells so that the contact points are on the frame and not the suspension or body. Not sure what other solutions there really are...good luck!

I just had my wheels refinished a couple of weeks ago. Left the car with the wheel repair guy. He pulled the wheels off, left the car on jack stands overnight while the wheels were drying and put them back on the next day. When I went to pick up my car, he had an S-class Mercedes sitting on jack stands. You should be fine.

Attached is a pic for the correct placement to lift the rear, then place jack stands at the jacking points on the sides of the car. Note: Jack up the front of the car first. No other solutions that I can think of.

Jack stands are the BEST solution other than a lift... It's just metal on metal... No hydraulics... no twisting and turning.

You could go the hillbilly route and use cement blocks! Seems to work for those boys -- they leave 'em like that for years at a time.

So, you're looking for a solution that's better than using a tool designed for this purpose (jackstands) on the part of your car designed to rest on that tool? Mind if I ask why? If there was something wrong with this option, or a better solution, wouldn't your car have that instead of jackstand points?
The only other real option is to pay someone to leave it on a lift somewhere. That might be a tad more stable, but your car will still be resting on its jackstand points.

All lifts have built-in safety locks. You can let a car sit on a lift forever.

To the OP, the lift points on the rocker panels are the place to place jackstands. If you are concerned, just set a block of wood between the stand and the liftpoint. You can leave your car on the stands indefinately. A body at rest stays at rest unless a force is acted upon it. - Sir Issac Newton.

Thanks for all the responses. It will probably end up on jack stands. I was just trying to see if there was something else maybe I wasn't thinking of. A guy at work mentioned the cinder blocks, but that didn't give me a warm and fuzzy either. I'll be in Vegas while it sits on jack stands in my brother-in-laws garage and was just thinking there might be something I wouldn't have to worry about as much. Oh well thanks for the help.
