If you're wanting RFT's then Bridgestone or Pirelli. I won't give you the "sacrificing performance and ride comfort" speech. I'm sure you have a good reason for wanting to stay with the RFT's..

Well, technically they are here, but not in sizes that do us any good. Tire Rack has some for the Viper listed.

Thanks for replies guys

So RFT are bad in confort? I don't really for having spare tire in trunk.

How about "Hankook"? Replicas I'm trying to get have those in package. The size is weird (265 and 235) , even tire rack doesn't have RFT for them.

Umm, no it didn't. Goodyear F1 GS-D3 finished first, the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 came in fourth.

let's rephrase that,

the PS2 finished first in performance numbers

when you throw in how much cheaper the goodyears are, then the goodyears win.

are you willing to have the poorer performing tires to save $20 bucks a tire (325 sport pack)?

not sure about the rest of you but I'll fork over 80 extra bucks for better performing rubber on my car for over 20,000 miles.

edit; 330 perf pack $20 extra fronts, $50 extra rears
still worth it!

I don't have the paper article, where presumably all numbers were listed, but your claim isn't echoed by the online article.

In the online article text, the Goodyears are deemed the best wet and overall performing tire ("As an all-around high-performance tire, you can't beat this Goodyear. It was the best performer in all three wet-track tests and was very competent in the dry."). The best pure dry performance tire is the #3 Yokohamas ("On dry pavement, the Yokohama tires put the BMW cars in a position to go fastest through our tests"), which incidentally cost almost the same as the Michelins ($175 vs $179). Why wouldn't the Michelins ever be mentioned as being best at anything, if they in fact were? Instead they are described as "better-than-average".

Anyway, I can only assume that you are very happy with your Michelins. And that is of course a good thing.

Definetly Michelin's IMO are the best. I've had a set of Pzero Pirelli's and Continental's on another car and the Michelin;s have always been good to me. $$ as fuck, but well worth it. My all time favorite tire is the Bridgestone Pole position SO2's I had on my 993 turbo, but tire life was not great. Too bad the rest of the bridgestone line is crappy.

Michelins are just over rated and over priced. In that car and driver article...the only good thing about the michelins they were as good in teh dry as in the rain...doesnt even say anything about being on the top. and the eagle f1s are not just cheap..they also have good threadwear

There is no "Best" brand. You need to define your parameters.

The best tire for me is the Pirelli PZero Nero M+S. It is the best-handling, smoothest, 3.5-season tire available.

What do you want from your tire?

hi friends,

last march a popular german car magazin named "auto motor und sport" did a test/review of all 17" RFT tires that come with a BMW e90/e91.

the winners were the michelin and the bridgestone tires.

top: Michelin Primacy HP ZP, Bridgestone Potenza RE 050 RFT
ok: Dunlop SP Sport 01 DSST, Pirelli Euforia Run Flat
avoid: Continental Sport Contact 2 SSR

here is the link:
http://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/t...ner.105466.htm

click then on foto show to see the ranking:
http://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/t...fen.105464.htm
i guess some of you will need a translation web site...

btw, the comfort winner was the michelin.

if each tire costs $20 more, and you have to get new ones more often because of the lower treadwear..you'd end up paying a lot more for a little difference..not worth it at all

80 bucks more a set????? a bunch

how long are they on your car???

even if the PS2's wear out in 20, and the eagles in 30 thousand miles

you'd go through 3 sets of PS2's, or 2 sets of eagles in 60K miles
the extra cost of the PS2's would be 80*2+1 extra set of tires (325 sport pack, 776 from tire rack plus 100 to mount and balance add some tax for the heck of it and just say a set is about a grand)

net extra for 60,000 miles would then be 1160 dollars extra
if you drive 15000 miles a year it would take you 4 years to burn through that many miles (1460 days)

79 cents a day. that's all

is it worth an extra 79 cents to drive the best? that's up to you

just don't act like it's a ton of extra money for crying out loud
