Same problem - "posessed audio"

I had same problem.

Also have '08, a 335xi w/Logic 7. 2 days after picking it up, same thing - horribly distorted gong, same for AM/FM/CD. Boy was I pissed. SA at dealer said it's something that he's had a few customers complain about. Suggested that it might be cured by a software update. Strange suggestion since I JUST PICKED UP THE CAR NEW. It was a Sat so no service was open. Will keep an eye on it, has only happened once.

It sounds as if the digital signal processing system went whack or did not initialize properly.

Let the car sit off, locked, for 5-10 min, came back, started car, audio system was just fine again. As if nothing happened.

Very strange.

Exact same problem occurred with my 2008 e92 335xi (late september build).

Drove to work this morning without any issues. Tonight upon starting vehicle there is a dissonant metallic noise instead of the usual gong sound. The AM/FM reception is abnormal, and has a buzzing or metallic sound, as though the antenna is damaged. However, the ipod sounds perfectly fine. The phone/bluetooth also works perfectly fine. Turning car off/on does not rectify problem. Changing various settings on logic 7 also has no effect.

When I get home the AM/FM reception is still abnormal when I pull into garage.

I have to go back to work 30 minutes later, and when I get into the car things are back to normal with normal gong at engine startup and so forth.

This seems like an issue on a circuit board in the logic 7 head unit. If it occurs again I guess I will take it in to the dealer (which is not very close).

I had the same problem happen to me today! Car was fine the day before, I did a quick wash and then turned it on and it had the annoying gong buzzing like sound that just wouldn't go away. Eventually drove about 10 minutes, got to my destination and shut off the car/locked it. Afterwards, it disappeared.

Does anyone know the root of the problem? Is this something I should bring in or wait to see if it occurs again.

I"m having the same problem with my 2008 328i. Any of you found a resolution to your situation? In the morning if it's still buzzin' i'm driving down to the dealer and update you on what they tell me.
