Question 20 inch rims fitment issue E93

Hi everybody,

I recently came across an issue and I was hoping that some of you could give me a piece of advice.

I have a E93 with stock sport suspensions (M sport package) and I wanted to buy a new set of 20 inch rims with the following dimensions:
Front - 8,5/20, ET 38, 5*120,
Rear - 9,5/20, ET 44, 5*120.

The dealer recommended the following dimensions for the tires:
Front - 235/30R20,
Rear - 285/25R20.
saying that other dimensions won't fit, but another guy told me that these tires won't fit properly because of the rims width and that the ET is too big for my car. Now, I don't know who is right and I don't want to spend some money on a pair of wheels and rims that in the end won't fit my car and may rub with the fender or with the suspension.

Could you please tell me what is your opinion? Will the rims fit, is the ET too big, is there any possibility for the rims and tires to touch the suspension or the fender, is the recommended tire dimension from the dealer good for these rims, do I have to put any additional spacers?

Thank you all for your support.

285 is a little wide for a 9.5 but those sizes would work. You could use some spacers especially the rear.

I'd recommend 235/35/20 and 265/30/20. These sizes are a little taller than stock. So you'll have some extra sidewall to protect the wheels. The speedometer is off by 3mph from the factory so it will actually be more accurate with the taller tires.

Thanks. I will think of your suggestion. My only fear is not to rub the fender or hit the suspension.

You wont rub with those specs. You actually have room for spacers.

Easily fit. I had 295/25/20 with 10MM spacers with only rolled fenders. Went back to 19's with 295 PSS.

Here is when I had 20's:

Thanks. The tires on your car look awesome. I think in the end I will go with the following dimensions:
Front: 235/30/20
Rear: 275/30/20

Can I go for this setup without rolling the fender?

They'd work without rolling your fenders but I would go up a profile in the front to match the rear. 235/35/20 would be a better match. 245/35/20 would even work.

If I go with a different height in the front, i.e 35 compared to 30 in the back wouldn't it look different? Shouldn't I go with the same height (front and rear)?

The profile is a percentage. 35% of 235 is about the same as 30% of 275. With the same profile front and rear your rear tire will be taller.

Thank you so much for the info. I will go with a 35 profile in the front. What do you think of Pirelli P Zero Nero tires?

I've never tried them. I just got some Hankook Ventus v12's 275/30/19 on 9.5 et33. They seem good so far. Good luck with the wheels.
