Call me a sad bugger, but as soon as I saw the bag holder I immediately bought 2 from the link.

Why did you integrate your own sat nav? You have it fitted already?
Thanks mate

Onboard Satnav is fine - I have 2015 disks with 7 digit postcode search and speed cameras.

However the TomTom Go 6000 is turning into one of the best satnavs on the market. It has a built in sim card and live traffic and speed camera updates so much more up to date than the BMW one would ever be

Mmmm .... makes sense. I don't have iDrive and sat nav integrated, so this may be an option. Cheers.

I rely on this for work - the TomTom has been excellent when re-routing due to accidents etc. Highly recommend it. It was pretty poor when I first bought it, they released it before the software was mature - but multiple updates are making it excellent.

Ebay is your friend for bag holders - crazy price from VAG in UK. These are stamped and genuine VAG all the way from Chinaland

Here they are fitted:

Theyre fantastic.
Thanks for that mate! Such a bargain, bought two as well! Don't even want to mention how many times I had shopping all over my boot, just because I did few sharper turns.

These are brilliant for preventing that. Particularly on a Friday night doing the beer and wine run

Black chrome Rich. I think it matches the interior better in my opinion.

So another little update - finally got around to cleaning the EGR valve out.

I plan to physically delete this and have it coded out but this clean will suffice until the summer.

So, engine cover off and top intake plastic off (3 Torx screws):

Then 6mm long allen key (for the bottom two bolts) with a ball end to be able to get on the heads. I fed a cloth underneath first in case I dropped any bolts as they're not captive:

Then disconnect vacuum pipe and electrical plug and voila:

Seriously minging:

Time for the cleanup:

After lots of scrubbing and scraping:

Then it was just a case of buttoning everything back up:

Don't forget the vacuum pipe:

All buttoned back up:

To be fair I was expecting a lot worse with 150,000 miles - I think good quality fuel helps.

So, next job for this is to get the whole thing deleted - a job for when it's warmer I think!

So, immediately things seem smoother - definitely not placebo. Smoother idle too.

So a delete is on the cards I think, Looks like this will do the trick. Now I just need to find someone who charges a reasonable price to code it out locally.

Nicely done. I did the delete on an old golf and made a good difference.

I'll be looking to do this in the next few months too. I hate the concept of EGR valves. Make me shudder to think about.
Might just send it to you to get all the jobs done lol

Am loving this thread, a good read indeed.

The breather valve. What exactly does this do and where is it located please ?

Do you have a part number for it, I'm due a service very soon and on reading this I think I'll get mine changed too

Thanks....

Lol - sorry for the delay mate - work got in the way! Glad you found it and I assume that now you know what it does!

You got it cheaper than me (C3BMW) mind sharing where from? Did you have to add postage?

I'd never seen that in action and I actually like it more than I thought - I didn't realise the top of it had lights on it. Quite cool!
