E91 Rear shocks

Looks like I need to replace the rear shocks on my E91 as one is leaking. My car is a 2010 E91 330d Msport, so would I be right in saying the shocks in the link below are the correct ones as there seems to be a few different options:

Yep they look like the ones, just make sure in the fitment detail it states for m-sport. Don't forget to buy new bumpstops as they will most likely knackered too. Maybe even new top mounts too.

Also I've you've never changed the shocks on the back of an E91 do some research in how to remove the interior trim. The top part of plastic trim where the seat belt disappears into the car as a right pain in the bum to remove if you don't know how it comes off. All the other bits are really easy to remove. There is a lot of trim to remove.

Yes in the fitment detail it says 'for sports suspension' whereas the other options just say 'for standard chassis'.

Right this is getting bloody confusing!
After looking on ECP & Carparts4less, the part number I was looking at for the Sachs shock is 635110580 as the fitment detail states 'for sports suspension'. After calling my local branch they say I need 635111640 as my car has 'M-technology'. They said the number I was looking at (635110580) would make the car sit too high. However when looking up this part it states the fitment detail as 'standard chassis'. From what I can see on Realoem I need part number 33526772927 which states it's for cars with 'Msport suspension'. Now this number doesn't relate to the numbers on ECP so I still wasnt sure. So I decided to give my local bmw dealers a call and they recon I need part number 33526796161, but on realoem this justooks

So that's four different part numbers! Can anyone tell me which one I need. I didnt think finding the correct rear shock was going to be so much of a ball ache!

Save yourself some bother and buy some Bilstein B4 rear shocks. Select the for sports suspension version and order them. Job done. The Bilsteins are OEM replacement but better quality than the Sachs.

Hopefully this link works:

This is what we fitted to my LCI 2009 E91 325d when converted from ES to M-Sport spec.

Slightly cheaper on demon tweeks if these are the correct ones:

https://www.demon-tweeks.com/uk/bils...-bls19-135052/

My mechanic is going to double check the OEM part numbers due to all the confusion, then I guess if there is no significant difference in price then I might as well upgrade to these.
What is the ride like with these? My mrs has a 120d with Msport suspension and its bloody rock hard. My 330d with Msport suspension is much better - I dont want it to end up like her 1 series!

They ride fine on mine, I have Eibach Pro springs too and the ride is a bit less crashy than my mates E90 m sport.

They will feel harder in any case if you are used to knackered shocks on the back.

I'm sure there will be people on here that have used the Bilstein b4's on their M-Sport and can give a comparison.

Pretty much every review I've read of the Bilsteins has been positive. I actually bought mine on Amazon from a UK Bilstein distributor, they were quite cheap from what I remember.

Go onto the sachs parts catalog and look there.

What's the last 6 digits of your vin? You can compare the chassis numbers with the sachs catalogue.

For instance my car has the S704A M Sports Suspension option on it from the bmw vin decoder.

The sachs catalogue mentions the s704a.

I then bought off amazon (not a reseller) of all places. they were 30 quid cheaper than eurocarparts even with the discount

Sure. It's https://mediaservices.zf.com/Redirec...oGLFmbGahk4%3d

So if you have s407a from your vin decoder you have the m technology suspension.

S226a is sport suspension

Excellent, thanks bud
Used this and now found the correct part number. It also gives the numbers for all the other bits and pieces you need to do the job. And as has been mentioned Amazon looks good for the shocks at £48 each and autodoc looks pretty good for the other bits coming in at just over £60. So hopefully should be able to get all the parts for around £160.
For anyone else that needs to know, the part numbers are as follows:

311 410 Shock absorber
900 127 Dust cover kit
802 549 Top strut mounting upper section
802 548 Top strut mounting lower section
802 547 Top strut mounting lower

Personally, I'd also replace the lower shock mount too. Makes sense, while you're in there

I will be. That is 802 547, Sachs just list it as 'Top strut mounting lower' for some reason.

Get the bolts from bmw as well. 4 of them. part no 33526764406 on my 335d

The sachs parts I ordered dud not come with bolts.

These were absolutely rusted in to the lower rubber shock mounting. Mine ended up just spinning in the rubber shock mounting as everything was so perished.

In the end I just snapped the heads off and put all the new bits in

It's a torx head so make sure you have a socket. Even with the correct socket these round off easily so make sure you use a torque wrench on them.

How long do autodoc take to deliver? I downloaded the app and ordered all the parts through that. The shocks were slightly more than amazon but the free delivery made it work out cheaper in the end. I've never used these guys before so just curious as to how quickly they process and ship orders. My mechanic mate isn't doing the work until the 19th anyway, so theres plenty of time.

as above around 4-7 days..also try buycarparts.co.uk and mr auto,,they are all the same company but prices vary,,i buy most my parts from these 3 mentioned now,,all german factory etc..last front shocks for my 335d i got TRW Shock Absorber Front Axle, Gas Pressure, Twin-Tube, Suspension Strut, Top pin (x2) and they were only £73 for both and they were great quality, from autodoc, when i ordered them i was puzzled as to how cheap they were and kept bugging me that i had bought wrong ones,,checked loads of times,,no worries though as they were perfect..bought my zimmerman discs from there also,,,,just looked and the trw for sports suspension are £23 each
