Major update!
So finished dressing the motor and was able set aside some time to get this wagon started. I got started on the wagon itself yesterday after laying everything out. I was able to get way more done than I thought on day 1. Got the diff out, trunk trey swapped, engine out, and n54 in sitting on the mounts. When the engine was out I had swap in the power steering line from the donor and also the coolant line that runs along the subframe. Today I worked on getting axles out, which one was stubborn enough to take the wheel bearing victum... So that's my hold up from putting driveline in. Got the other axle in though! Also plumbed the charcoil canister splicing in the vent tubes with the ones on the car and the ones I cut off the doner. I used fuel line to join the wagon vent tubes and doner vent tubes. Extended the harness to reach across the back to the left to reach the canister. Installed heat shields and put front bumper back on after buttoning up the engine bay. Put in a new radiator and larger intercooler. The radiator fan needed to wired using the connector from the donor. The one on the wagon didn't clip on. Only things I'm waiting on are a hub assembly and transmission mount support bracket. I also sent out the n54 ECU and wagon Cas and keys yesterday morning to get programmed. I sent them to RPM Motorsports out west. That should get back on Tuesday. Then I head to Maui for a vacation. Got the rear mtech bumper painted as well! Santa is also bringing an mtech front bumper in January (ships from Germany). Should have it running this week and driving once I get back from vacation once I have the parts. This has honestly been way easier than I expected. The hardest part is removing the axles! Everything else unbolts and bolts right in.

Well! It runs and drives. Was able to get all the programming sorted by rpm Motorsports Ltd. Also got my 335 dash sorted as well. All works! Just gotta fix a front main seal oil leak. I screwed up installing it and the inner sleeve popped out just a little. I pushed it back in, but think it was damaged unfortunately. Either way, pretty easy fix! Car should've came with this dang motor.

Great write up and congrats on swap.
I am looking at the same swap too. My question is why do we have to swap the axle subframes? Isn’t everything the same between the e90 and e91 chassis? |
