Strange N54 fuel injector coding problem
SORRY FOR GRAMMAR AND SYNTAX ERRORS!
Ok, so I bought my 2007 e92 335i a couple of months ago and have since put a couple of thousand miles on it. When I first bought the car it ran smoothly. Recently I've had my 6th injector replaced due to misfiring, the place didn't know how to code so I did it myself. Upon coding the 6th injector I noticed something weird all of the other injectors did not have the correct values either. They must have been like that since I bought the car, so I left them and coded the 6th one then tested the car. The car felt great, just as it did the first day I had it. Since these second values are low does that mean the car isn't running as well as it should be? The car feels smooth to me, but keep in mind I've only ever felt it like this. I'm thinking what I think is "smooth" is not smooth. Suggestions? Values on my injectors (the first number is top number second is bottom) C1=583-234 (Index-7) C2=579-221 (Index-1) C3=574-220 (Index-1) C4=578-226 (Index-1) C5=582-235 (Index-1) C6=581-216 (Index-9) But in INPA these numbers are C1=573-163 C2=575-170 C3=579-159 C4=577-170 C5=573-167 C6=581-216 |

When you code the values CAN change a little bit but these seem really off. IMO, I would note the current values, then try coding them properly and see how it goes. If the car runs bad just put it back to these numbers.
BTW, not 100% sure why it matters but others will say not to mix injectors or to change then out by the bank and not individually.

Something got swapped out on the car, and proper coding was not done. Maybe a DME replacement, maybe an engine replacement. I would definitely code the injector values into the DME. The car will still run smoothly if the injectors aren't coded, but the fuel-air mix won't be consistent in all of the cylinders. It's very important that the injectors get properly coded, especially if you plan to push the car.
Another important note. You need to install new injector seals any time you install an injector. I'm assuming that index 9 injector is used, so you need to be sure that injector seal is fresh. If that seal leaks, combustion gas will slip past the seal and erode the head, requiring a head replacement. |

Edit: I jumped the car with a booster and then started it, it started up okay, so may have simply the run the battery down even though the dash lights never acted like it was low on battery. Last edited by virtual_law; 05-28-2022 at 07:46 AM.. |
