OT.. BMW Supra?
Ran across this from a Lexus forum I follow. Sounds like a BMW Supra is coming? Maybe they'll put a single turbo N54 in it

Wouldn't expect BMW & Toyota to get in bed. But I'd certainly be interested.
Otherwise I'm still waiting on BRZ STi, a manual Lexus... or a Mustang/Camaro/Challenger that isn't 90% front hood.

I think this project has already bore fruit for BMW. Now we know why the F30 has the steering of a 1997 Toyota Camry.

Resurrecting this. Funny how people thought this was a rumor never intended to happen. Now, people in the UK are the first to put down deposits for the MKV. As soon as there is notice for pre-ordering here in the states, I'm jumping on it! Are any of you??
I was thinking, why not go with an M series. But it's a legend with the soul made from BMW. Sweet to see a fusion of JDM + EUDM |

I watched a video on the cooperation process of the Supra/BMW Z4 build recently. Even though I was always a diehard Toyota guy, I would choose the Z4 over the Supra based on the BMW feel. The only thing the two cars share is the drivetrain, which is a good one. Too bad it is only available as an automatic... or is it?

at first i thought the supra was gm style badged engineered z4 but after watching the cooperation video what BMW and toyota did for the zupra developmented i'm more optimistic.
I remember in the video, toyota made BMW reinforce the b58 motor to meet toyota durability standards. Maybe we'll finally get a BMW that doesnt leak or require preventive maintence under 100k. its also nice to see more sports cars in the market...no one will care about some SUV/CUV in 20yrs and talk about what a classic it was. |

Just look up the part numbers. We’ll be able to tell soon enough. I can’t think of any multi national partnership truly synergized.
It worked well for Porsche when they partnered with Toyota on the 996...oh wait. :-) Last edited by tlow98; 02-01-2019 at 10:34 PM.. |

I think that's what I love about the new Supra. You get that JDM feeling, but you also have the soul of BMW in it. 2 legends in 1. And crossing fingers that the durability testing will guarantee us a sturdier engine. Then again, it's a sports car, so it's expected that there will be some issues.

to me the new supra is a waste of time. toyota doesnt need bmw. bmw needs toyota.all you have to look at is toyota vs bmw. which holds more value? the engine is a let down. 90% plastic. soon you will see the old school beat the new school. that means toyota parts last longer than bmw parts. we have been seeing that quite some time with other brands. wonder why? i already know to dismiss the new supra but that question is for those that dont know.
