Speakers Popping

I have a 2006 330i. owned it for 10 years. On the way to work the speakers started to pop and emit static sounds. The system was still working and I could hear the radio still however the steering wheel volume control or the volume knob on the dash would not adjust the sound level.

I turned the system off and the static and popping continued. I even shut the car off and the sounds continued. It seemed like all the speakers were making the static noise but the rear deck ones were popping. Never had this happen before..

Any clue???

First thing to check is the water in the rear driver side
corner ,under the carpet floor covering see first link)
Water on the amp is real common problem with these
usually due to Moon Roof drains , Trunk Seals and rear
light seals in that order.
Reports of this go up after heavy weather in the effected
states all the time.

The stereo is really never off because the alarms come through
the stereo . It will not go off till the car goes to sleep
which can be as much as 45 minutes if the car is not locked.
Around 2 minutes if it is.(see first electrical pdf)

So I checked and the AMP was damp. The trunk opener was not seated properly and I could see moister run all the way over to the AMP. I dried the AMP out with a fan and let it sit for a day and now no sound when I turn on the radio or CD or connect phone to play music. No more popping or static..

Is there a reset button on the AMP or could it just be fried?

You probably should have taken it out
took it a part and tried to dry it.
It may have gone out anyway.

Its possible the amp fuse is blown but my bet is it is wet inside still.
Some people have been able to recover by drying it but not most.
The second thread had the most L7 amp info and that guy also has
the most reasonable repair prices.
Be sure and fix all the leaks.
