shadowline trim

i ran a search, and i see a lot for shadowline.com

but i came across shadowlinetape.com

much cheaper, 70ft in length (enough for those screw ups) compared to shadowline.com's 30ft.

anyone have experience with shadowlinetape.com's product? says its made with a better elasticity for the rear back end wrap around that other vinyls can end up wrinkling on.

only $22, no shipping costs....hmm

I have the shadowline.com stuff...and it has been holding up well to cold and salt. I'd be interested in knowing what people think about this stuff too, cuz I did a crap job on mine and need to redo it.

thats great to know. i was curious about the snow issue. seattle obviously gets a lot of rain which im sure it will be fine in. it does snow from time to time though.

yeah i figured this tape was also made like the shadowline.com tape for window trims specifically. and this is only a $22 loss if it screws up, and again, comes with 70ft for multiple redos lol.

i'm probably going to do it and i'll report back. any install tips/tricks, specifically for getting around that back bend?

I set up the upper window frame so that in the front it started on the lower side of the vinyl, then at the highest on the frame I was at the top of the vinyl, then in the inside "pocket" of the rear window was on the lower side again, and then the top of the bottom strip on the rear window matched up with what started as the bottom of the vinyl(would be what is finishing as the top of the vinyl).

Really hard to explain, so let me know if you need more detail. Also, a second set of hands would help tremendously. And use a squeegee to do the "face" of the trim, then go back to wrap the edges. A blow dryer can help for the rear window curve, but don't get the vinyl very warm or it will striate and or just rip. If you see any small bubbles, don't worry too much, like tint, the sun will pull them out.

great tips. was the shadowline.com stuff "tape" material where it was sticky? i see those required soap/water solution? or did you just stretch, stick and swipe it on?

yea i'll be having my friend who's wrapped a few interiors help me, but the window trim is a new realm to the both of us. so we'll have two sets of hands

Good luck. The curved piece around the rear window sucks.

The stuff I had was peel and stick, but you could use water too I believe. Post up a review for sure if you guys go for it.
