320D remapped -> 205Bhp (for now)
I just got my 320D remapped at Kempower, they did a great job! from 163Bhp to 205Bhp and from 347Nm to 435Nm! He told me my engine is in fact still under performing, due to the poor diesel quality I'm using (most Belgian diesel is bad according to them). He agreed to test it again on thursday after I fill up on some other brand of diesel to see the difference.
But I can assure you even now it's a completely different car to drive!!!!

Wow! 435Nm! That´s quite some difference to the original Nm. Are you sure it won´t damage the drivetrain?

I asked my dealer, they never had any 320D's coming in with a broken drivetrain, and they are perfectly aware that a lot of them are tuned
I guess it's easier to break it with this torque, but if you're a bit careful there's nothing to worry about

Hell of a gain there. Have you noticed anything else except the increase in power/torque? More wheelspin?

Definitely more wheel spin, especially because it's very wet over here.
But it's far from uncontrollable, it's just lots and lots more fun to drive. And I hope to notice increased mpg (or km per l in my case)

They're not completely ready with the 335D, but if the 535D can be a reference:
*************** The tuning of the 272 hp 3.0d versions of the 535d (E60/E61) is ready and gives minimum 315 hp (some had 325 hp) and minimum 680 Nm (some had 700 Nm) Under development : we wait to have done cars enough to be able to show You representative data and graphs * 3 E90 335d 286hp **************** He told me to try Shell or Jet, we'll see if it helps...

Kempower are located north of Brussels. See their website: www.kempower.be
435Nm, that's some meaty torque you're getting! Kempower are very professional and have done literally hundreds of BMW diesels with no problems. Touch wood, I had my 330d remapped in September and have had no worries at all, despite really using all the 615Nm I have on a regular basis. Interesting remark about the fuel. Must try that I wonder who'll be the first to reach 1000Nm in a diesel BMW

The site looks nice, and the company professional.
Can anybody tell me what to choose and why autotuning heinz or kempower. My dealer told me that when they remap a 320d and the car goes into service @ bmw they sometimes do a computer upgrade and your 750€ remap is gone!! what is the policy @ kempower?? do they redo it 4 free??...how many times?? thx, G |

I would go for Kempower again
Seriously, Heinz isn't bad, but I heard more complaints from them than from Kempower. And if you look at the numbers for the 320D: Heinz : 190Hp - 400NM Kempower : 205Hp - 440NM If your dealer resets the ECU they'll replace it for free the first 3 month, after that it's 75Eur.

Don't know Heinz, but I was very impressed with the professionalism of Kempower. The clutch & MT can easily handle 440Nm - it's not that much nowadays.

Got mine (320d) tuned about 1 month ago. 203HP / 457NM. 2500km since then with no problem, but I do not use the full torque everyday.
As being also from Belgium I wonder about the Diesel quality ? what's the recommanded brand ? the one to avoid ? I'll do some research and post my findings is any. FYI, I'm doing 6.9l/100km now. Happy wheelspin |

Who did your remap? I average 7.0 l/100km and that's making 'full use' of the torque. I can just about get wheelspin in 4th gear on a wet road

He told me to use Shell or Jet, I'm going back this Thursday to see if it really makes a difference on the dyno. He was sure it would give me an extra 5 to 10HP just changing the diesel. And like you can see on my initial readout, at only 162Hp my 320D was performing less than factory standard. (airco was off!) I was doing 6.3l/100km before, too soon to tell the difference Go wheelspin

powerconcept did my remap. I'm curious to see your fuel usage.
How many KM ? maybe too soon to have your engine fully released ? could explain you were below average before remap ??? |

Well, he thought it's only the belgian diesel that has this quality problem, so chances are you won't see any difference

Oh, ok. I might give it a try, though, next time I fill up. I usually get my fuel as cheap as possible from French hypermarkets, but I'd be willing to try out the branded stuff just to see When Jan dyno'ed my 330d before the remap, it was also a few hp down on the 231 it was supposed to have, so it might be the fuel?

You could try, but do you think you can feel the difference? I'm getting mine tested tomorrow, if it has more HP I'm ditching my old gas station
