Regarding your 2nd question, on my car & my setup, I have to get more free-flow mufflers than the Eisenmann Race S/R pipes.
So, was it the Eisenmann muffler causing the vibration? If i went no muffler or resonator, that'd be pretty free-flowing (and obnoxiously loud) but would i get the vibration you were describing? -i would assume that the better the flow, the less vibration... **shrug**

I'm interested in the MMW headers, but I don't want the car to be obnoxiously loud. I would run the headers, cat and Dinan cat-back exhaust, which has a resonator. I hate have resonance at cruising speeds.
With the dinan setup it would sound mean, but very clean. with headers you expect a bump in sound, but you can easily make it something functional, and not overbearing.

No error code from the get-go of starting up the car. No coding needs to be done.

Today we've successfully traced down what causes the vibration/rattle.
Just like yours, my exhaust doesnt touch any thing.
It's actually the treble sound your center muffler makes.

The problem is the SuperSprint headers have no cats & are free-flow, so they're pumping a stronger pressure than the stock headers & our center muffler can't handle it so it has the tinny/rattling sound.

It's like having a horn & we blow into it, it makes normal sound. Now we use a much stronger pressure to blow the horn, it wont make a normal sound anymore but rather very high pitch or distorted sound.

We came up with a fix is to:
- Re-use the stock center pipes & cut out the center muffler.
- Dwell 2 free-flow mufflers, 1 for each pipe.
- Connect a Y pipe to the rear Eisenmann Race rear muffler.
see pic below:

Results is a much more tolerable loud exhaust sound.

So, my setup now is a SuperSprint headers, stock center pipes with custom mufflers, & Eisenmann Race rear muffler.

The car is still FREAKING LOUD.

I've had 15 miles on this setup & my car sounds like a race car.
At steady cruising speed, it's fine, no big deal.
But when I step on the gas or accelerate hard & when the rpm pass 4k, oh dear, I could scare any living thing around me.

I now attract a lot of attention & I dont think I could live with this loudness.

I will make a sound clip tomorrow & post it up.
yeah i use stock midpipe, i replace the resonator with straight Y pipe, my car sounds just like what you describe, and don't worry about the o2 sensor code, my car never throw that code, i already come to the dealership many times, they said it's okay.

I have no cat on the car now.
I had a dinan rear muffler on my previous e36 m3. It sounded nice. However, you would not know what the sound is gonna be after adding the headers. Pls try & report back.

I had the Eisenmann race S/R pipes as the mid section, & they had the muffler/resonator Thats the 1 that gave the treble sound & we thought it was the rattle.
Im at the shop replacing the 2 mufflers with straight pipes as we speak.
So, its gonna be headers, straight pipes, & Eisenmann Race rear muffler.
Will report back.

Ok. Replacing the resonators/mufflers with 2 straight pipes completely eliminates the rattle/vibration. So, we're right on the money.
However, the sound level is too loud haha.

I've done a video clip too. Will post it up in a few hours.

Yes, very straight forward. They are bolt-on. No additional modifications required except earplugs at high rpm :-)

Hi everyone,
here's a short video of the SuperSprint headers, straight pipes (No resonator), & Eisenmann Race rear muffler.

that's pretty loud i must say, - not digging the Eisenmann muffler IMO (makes the car sound like a little 2cylinder japanese car). Maybe your video doesn't do it justice?

**not hating, just an opinion**

I would have to agree with you.
Eisenmann Race muffler doesnt go well with SuperSprint headers.
Maybe something like Eisenmann Sport, BMW Performance, Dinan, ect..

I've reversed everything back to Stock headers, Eisenmann Race S/R pipes & Eisenmann Race rear muffler.

Dont know what to do with the headers :-(

Why not just see what it sounds like without the eisenmann exhaust?

How much did it cost you for the header install and removal?

-sucks that all that money is lost on buying expensive headers
