I haven't don't... on the same note, I wouldn't try it. Even torqued down, I'm sure the extra 2mm would cause some vibration. IMO, not worth it. Do a stud conversion and run whatever spacer you want without the worries of what bolts to use.

If you run 10mm spacers, get bolts that are 10mm longer than stock. I wouldn't chance it with 12mm bolts. Or you can do a stud conversion.

haven't done this, but recently received wrong size bolts with my spacers, they were about a 1/2 in too long. Didn't notice when installing for rears until I drove around the neighborhood....a light clunking noise.
On another thread , someone mentioned that there may be less tolerance in the rears than fronts. |

I think some misread your question, you're not using 12mm bolts on 10mm spacers, that would be dangerous.

on a side note, I doubt the bolts that came with the 12mm spacers are actually 12mm long.

If you are doing this in the front don't even sweat it there's a lot more wiggle room. In the rear there is less, but 2mm is a very small difference so it probably would be okay.

I have a 2010 e90 and recently purchased 12mm and 15mm spacers off eBay. However, the bolts that shipped with the spacers have the same length and are extremely too long. When I tried to install the rear 15mm spacer and the wheel, one out of 5 bolts will not lock in all the way.
I ended up measuring the original lug + 15mm and cut the extra. Bolt should at least take no more than 8 complete turns. I got too tired cutting bolts using a hack saw. I installed the long bolts along with 12mm spacers in the front with no issues. Driving on a freeway speed with no vibration. All you do is install the spacers + wheels. Gently spin the wheel and see if the bolts will hit something. |
