Check this post, installed on a car that has CIC and doesn't have pdc. I've had the parts for a while now and don't have pdc either, wish I could confirm to you first hand but still haven't gotten around to installing it.

I saw this one! And I combed his profile/post history to find the coder, who was banned and other coders mentioned by other posters. Only one from TopGear said it was doable, the others either never replied or said it can't be done. It started to feel like investigating a murder mystery.

Regardless, if you find time to do it, please document it. I would greatly appreciate it and it would settle the debate once and for all.

dng, it works fine on automatics without parking sensors but as far as I know no one has ever bought a stickshift E9X, so if you're that one guy driving a E9X like it's 199X you should probably get a better emulator like the Carsystems one.

I do not have a post to refer to but I can tell your first hand that I did it successfully on my car. I have a 2010 E90 335XI with Auto and NO PDC, factory installed CIC.

It worked flawlessly first time once coded (and still does after 1.5year) as the OP detailed. No intermittent picture, no picture just for few seconds and no black screen.

I noticed that it does not seems to work equally for everyone, I think it may have to do with the version that the CIC unit is running. You can find the version by using NCSexpert trying to read the unit. Do not use F4 to read, change job and select CODIERDATEN_LESSEN, just before executing the jog, have a look at the text under the jobname, you should see "CIC.Cxx" xx being what is called CODING INDEX

My CIC has never been updated to my knowledge (firmware wise), I have CIC.C16. DO NO try to update/downgrade the CIC with a K+DCAN cable, it would take more than 8 hours and would most likely fail during programming and bricking your CIC, just not worth.

Hi guys,

Just installed my backup camera, did everything properly, with harness, etc. I used the parts from the first post. I think I figured out why some people have bluetooth broken after the installation. It seems like these folks from China who designed this emulator do not support the latest software update from BMW: https://legacy.bmw.com/bmw_next/mast...re_update.html Luckily, you can revert the sw update, but you'd need to disconnect the emulator, otherwise the whole bluetooth module is always shut down and there is no option to "revert the update". Alternatively, you can also buy a less crappy emulator, have seen a few of them on the market for roughly the same price. The Carsystems emulator is $200 but it has many other benefits beyond just the parking lines.

Consider the Carsystems emulator if you have no navigation. They have an option to unlock nav.

Update #2, fitting the handle in the liftgate of the wagon is very difficult. The backside of the handle 'plug area' is a tight fit, but it will clip in. Fitting the wire from handle to cabin is also difficult with a wagon, as you follow the window channel and into the headliner. That's as far as I've got so far.

This detail was buried in a post on here, but don't forget to transfer the fiber optic cable from old harness to new harness. That fixes bluetooth, usb in armrest and aux input.

Be careful not to rip the small green wire loop upon install. Otherwise you're stuck staring at these cheesy backup lines.
