Logic 7, Is it worth it?

I'm getting a '09 E92 and found out Logic 7 is now optional for $875. Is it worth it? Why not just go aftermarket for $650? http://www.bavariansoundwerks.com/pr...Series-M3-E92/

If I do go aftermarket, the number and position of speakers for the stock and Logic 7 systems is the same correct? It's just the drivers are better in the Logic 7?

It's worth it. I used to sell car stereo for a living and I find it acceptable as-is. A little more bottom end would be nice, though.

And I can tell you that just upgrading speakers will only do so much - your system is only as good as its weakest link. Plus, you'll end up spending at least $225 of your time or someone else's time installing the aftermarket speakers and you still don't have the upgraded amp, etc.

You're gonna get a lot of polarized answers on this, but FWIW, I'm very happy with the system. My previous car was an Infiniti with a Bose setup and I think the Logic 7 surpasses it. Plus with the great threads on here about how to set the EQ, you'll be very happy.

I, for one, am not satisfied. First, the DSP is not very good as the soundstage is way too far to the left for my liking and there is that annoying "rear fading" issue. As pointed out by another poster, the bottom end is also not optimized. There is an apparent lack of midbass in this system.

If I had the choice, I would have gone with the basic system and then upgraded with an Alpine PXE-H650 sound processor, a couple of amps, new door speakers and new subs.

FYI the BSW upgrade is still in development so it's not available yet. Even if you did upgrade the speakers you would want the more powerful amp that comes with the Logic 7. It sucks that it's an option now but it is a decent OEM system and I think it's worth $875 if sound is important to you, I know it was one of the most important things to me. I came from an ELS system in the Acura TL and the Logic 7 is definitely more powerful and better sounding in most cases. By that I mean my TL wasn't a 10 out of 10 but any type of song sounded pretty good but with the Logic & in the E92 some tracks sound a little off to me, unbalanced.

Personally, I like the logic7 and am glad I have it. Sure you could buy the base radio and spend lots of money upgrading it beyond the quality of the logic 7, but I don't think you could do it for anywhere near the $875 cost of the upgrade. I don't think those $600 speakers alone are gonna even come close.

I know the BSW is not out yet. Neither is my '09 Coupe. I will probably get the L7 system, and in time decide if I don't like the sound. Upgrade the speakers, leave them on the OEM amp and get a dedicated amp for a set of upgraded subs. I've seen a couple of DIY jobs on the site, I'm sure they'll be more in time.

I like my Logic7 system but I have to agree that it lacks the deep base. I will replace the underseat subs with earthquakes SWS-8's and an additional amp and problem solved. Overall I'm really happy with it and is worth the extra $€£¥$$.

The SWS-8's are a direct fit for you underseat enclsures. You can get the 2 speakers for around $250 and depending on the AMP about $150-$200. There's a DIY on how to intall them yourself. I am not very familiar with sound system installation, so I will be taking mine to a shop. They sell a combo of two Earthquake SWS-8 and Earthquake AMP on ebay for $299. You can check that one out.

the Logic7 is the only option I was willing to pay for in my car and I'm enjoying it very much, especially now that I've adjusted the settings as per another recent thread

I'd much prefer paying $875 to have an OEM system, even if it is not as good, than having someone play with wires all over my car (I've heard horror stories of radio/speaker installations gone bad).

Funny part is, Logic7 isn't even that good... better than the base I guess.

I ended up not getting it, I knew I was going to end up upgrading anyways. Guess I'll find out how much of a pain it is to put in an aftermarket radio in a 50k car..

BMW stereo speakers SUCK PERIOD. Better off listening to the engine and muffler growl.
I hate my stereo. I have logic 7 and it still seems shitty compare to almost ALL the speakers in my previous cars.

Harmon Kardon should be offered in all BMW's.

Previous Harmon Kardon setups did sound nice. Not sure exactly what it was, but just better balanced all around. (Yes, I have adjusted all the settings)

Its not bout being loud its about the balance of the sound sounds like shit even if you set it up correctly.

Speakers just suck all around in the BMW.
