Stock Amp doesn't work -- any aftermarket drop-in replacements?
My stock amp does not work and I have no sound coming from the car whatsoever (including the dings, navi voice, radio, etc).
I have an 06' 330i with a Logic 7 amp and was wondering if there were any cheaper aftermarket alternatives to buying a new ($1200) replacement amp through the dealership. I'm hoping there is a drop-in replacement or a harness I can use to minimize the work. I tried looking through the audio upgrade sticky but it seems that requires a working stock amp and/or is an upgrade as opposed to a replacement to the amp using the stock speakers. |

No way to interface with any thing else do to fiberoptics
BMW runs a proprietary fiber optic line between the head unit and amp.
Nothing else is compatible. If you really want to change it you have to have the head unit reprogrammed to analog outputs, run lines to the trunk add amps and up grade speakers. Mobridge is working on a fiberoptic to analog preamp but its not released yet. There are some repair sources for the amp. Most will add and ms-8 after reprogramming use a technic harness and add a 4 channel amp or more, upgrade the front door speakers and underseats. See the audio upgrade start here sticky. This applies to the Logic7 OEM system: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=651998
... a JBL MS-8 DSP/amp can replace the Logic7 OEM amp directly after HiFi coding. |
