Help with EC-7 ET31

These cars look fantastic and I need a little help to get mine to the same place. I've got a 2008 335 XI and I'm curious if anyone has the EC-7 in 18x9 ET 31 on all four corners. If so, can you comment whether you can fit 245/40/18 Pilot Super Sports or Continental Extreme DW without rubbing, rolling or adding negative camber.

My other option if going square is to run 235/40/18 at all four corners, but I want MORE rubber if possible.

Thanks for the help.

Waiting to buy 18in ps7 with the following offsets (group buy)
18x8.5†et35, 18x9.5†et33

David, do you mind answering a few questions.

What size tires do you recommend?

Will I have to get some spacers for them to be flush?
My car is lowered on swift spec-r springs.

Open to suggestions. Thanks

-John

The 18x9" ET31 actually can be used with a 255/35/18 Pilot Super Sport or Continental Extreme DW at stock ride height on your 2008 335xi. You can use the 18x9" ET31 with the 245/40/18 sized tire as well, but if you lower your car, you increase the chance of rubbing up front since the sidewall is pretty tall (25.7" overall diameter), even compared to the wider 255/35/18 (25.1" overall diameter) tire. For the 255/35/18, you can pull the alignment pins on the strut hats if you lower the car to avoid any fender rubbing.

Definitely a good option for those that want to do a conservative staggered fitment. If you are looking for a more flush fitment up front, the 18x9" ET31 is a better choice, and provides a Profile 2 front to match the rear rather than the Profile 1 (18x8.5" ET35).

John, the recommended tire sizes for these wheels would be 235/40/18 and 265/35/18 for your e92. Some people do add a spacer in front to make it very flush, while others opt for the more flush 18x9" ET31 in front with a 255/35/18 sized tire and maximizing the negative camber by pulling the alignment pins of the front strut hats.

Thanks for the help - 1 final question

David, Thanks for the help.

My final question regarding the 2008 335 xi fitment is: If I get the 9" EC-7 ET 31, can I use 245/35/18 at all four corners without pulling the alignment pin up front.

I really wanted to go the 245/40 because one individual (who will remain nameless so I'm not in the dog house) has a tendency to curb my wheels, but not her owns (taller profile). That said, if the 245/35s work, that may be my best choice for a square set-up with profile #2.

Tires will be PSS or Continental Extreme DWs.

That is correct, the 245/35/18 would allow for you to fit the wheels and tires under your fenders without the need of pulling the alignment pin as it has a shorter sidewall, thus allowing for fitment without the need of additional negative camber.

I'm debating new wheels. Torn on 18 vs 17. I love the beef/meat look I'm seeing with the 17's. I also have a brand new set of BFG Comp 2 G Force 235/40/17 in my garage on my stockers.

I have KW V3 with camber plates so I could adjust the ride to fit proper.

Suggestions on arc-8 specs for n aggressive look? E90 pre lci....

PM price shipped to 95628?

I actually like the arc-8s better than the ec7s the more i look at it lol...wish arc would come out with an 18x9 et32 or so so i can get these. 18x9 et32 and 18x10 et32 would be such a perfect setup for me =).

would definitely get these right now if that were the case lol.

The 17x9" ET30 will be relatively flush with the fenders and can take up to a meaty 255/40/17 street tire, while also giving the Profile 3 concave face ARC-8. The photos that minaret had posted above are a great example of how the 17x9" ET30 squared setup would look like.

Definitely comes down to preference when choosing between the ARC-8's and EC-7's. The EC-7's do have some e9x specific fitments that would allow for maximum tire width though, such as the 18x9" ET31 and 18x10" ET33, which is why it's become popular for many of our customers.

David, I thought I asked my last questions, but I was wrong. It's down to:
(A) 245/40/18 Pilot Super Sports on EC-7s in 8.5" ET 35, or
(B) 255/35/18 Pilot Super Sports on EC-7s in 9" ET 31.

Are you saying both fit on the stock 2008 335 xi suspension without rolling, pulling alignment pin, etc?

If I drop the car with Dinan spings (about 0.5" lower) next summer, would I still be OK on both wheel sizes?

That is correct, you can fit both on your car without pulling the alignment pins at stock ride height. However, when you lower the car in the future, you may need to pull the alignment pin for the 18x9" ET31 with the 255/35/18 PSS to avoid any potential rubbing on the front fenders, though you may get away with not having to since the Dinan springs are a mild drop. Because the 18x9" ET31 EC-7's are Profile 2 instead of the Profile 1, many people prefer to go with that more concave front wheel.

Thanks for the help guys. Does anyone know if the 255/35 pilot super sport is "stretched" on the 9" ET 31 wheel? While the stretch is cool, that's not the look I want and I certainly don't want anyone curbing my new wheels... Thanks again!

The 255/35/18 on a 9" wheel is definitely not stretched, it is the proper tire size for that wheel width. This is what a 255/35/18 R-compound tire looks like with the 18x9" ET31 EC-7 wheel:

Do you have any pics of a profile 3 setup at all four corners on a pre-lci e90 Non-M?
Don't care if it's a 18 or 19" setup.

Front sticks out maybe 1-2 mm more than I want with the 5 mm spacer, will likely look for a 3 mm spacer

Rear is pretty flush

Next spring will get springs to lower a bit.

Which wheel model are you referring to? While we do not have any of the EC-7's in Profile 3 all around, we do have the ARC-8's in Profile 3 in both the 17" and 18" all around on an e90.

Here is an example of the 18" Profile 3:
