My new Joying 8.8" project
Now that I've fixed all of the mechanical issues it's time to have some fun with the head unit for my non-iDrive E92 325i.
I think the 8.8" Joying JY-HOS01N4GS-2 widescreen will fit the centre fascia perfectly. https://www.joyingauto.com/joying-us...th-new-ui.html The centre fascia I'll be using has a 240mm wide aperture, perfect. So I've ordered the above head unit and fascia which will take a while to arrive. Meanwhile I need to find a suitable harness. Does anybody have any recommendations? I've been considering a Joying for my E92 N53B30. It has the same non-iDrive as yours. I emailed back and forth with Joying a couple times just a few week back, to see what they suggested and make sure I am going to order the right one. You say you're looking for a harness? I thought the Joyings come with everything needed to fit it? What am I missing?

I'm curious as to why you didn't get the E9x specific model?

These units look terrible with that bezel plastic surrounding the screen and ac controls sticking under the dash.
The one where you cut the dashboard on the top looks way better. Last edited by Wolf 335; 04-14-2020 at 12:06 PM.. |

It’s a very drastic step to cut into the dash, I dont think I could do it and I’m not sure I like the display so high. I will see how my fitment looks. I dont know if it will stick out much or not. Still waiting on the unit to arrive from China.

If he uses that trim piece then yeah, it's a high possibility. But if he uses just a single fin trim face than no it won't affect the climate control. Which I think would better a better fit since it is a single fin unit.. everything behind the screen will be closed off. With the double din version there will be gaps behind the screen. Because it's built for 2din. But some CA glue and a lil abs can remedy that.

It's a single din.. I've seen it in person installed in a Honda with a single din kit that was already there. Now of course the screen is wider that a single din but it can be lifted or dropped to fit.. the actual chassis is single din and will fit in any single din sleeve.

https://www.crutchfield.com/p_500ILX....html?tp=72381 I have one of those Android 9 units that you say look like s....lol...and am happy with how it looks. And believe me, I was so worried before install because little things like the CC sticking out usually drive me nuts. But luckily I don't even notice it and everyone who rides with me have been really impressed with the unit. The one thing I really hate about the Eonon is how low it sits in relation to the drivers eyes. You have to really look down at it to see the nav or anything else. The couple inches it sat higher in my old E46 really made a difference for usability. I think the Alpine in the single OEM slot with the screen slid up to just below the air vents and tilted slightly back would probably work out great. All that said, I think the Joying in the single din slot with the trim you linked above may be another interesting option. |

I actually have the Eonon android '9' with the 7 inch screen, and unfortunately the climate control does stick out a little bit even with this. I went back and forth on the 7" and 9" but ended up going 7" because I wanted the hard buttons. I really believe they would sell more of the 7" screen units if they did away with the outdated dvd/cd player and shortened the head unit like Dynavin has and that way the climate control would fit well. Still looking forward to seeing the Joying unit from the OP installed. |

If I don't like the result of what I'm doing here that's probably my plan B. My only issue is that it looks even less OEM than the sticking-out HVAC controls. |
