I think it works mainly if you have auto transmission...

Sorry to resurrect, but I've got an 08 E93 (N53 engine) manual. I noticed it started displaying some engine surging/fluttering in 3rd/4th gear at low revs after a cam cover change recently. Followed the above steps and I'm no longer able to replicate this issue! Doesn't feel like a placebo, just crossing my fingers it'll be a permanent fix.

It Works

I know it is a bit after this forum has last been posted but HERE IS THE SOLUTION.

I have a 2009 BMW 328i XDrive with 167k miles on it.

Codes 2CFB and 2D09 came up after I tried clearing adaptations through my cheap amazon BMW scanner tool (it works great this is the first time it has failed me). I went on this forun looking for how to solve this. I had a TROTTLE VALVE adaptation not a throttle body adaptation so I was concerned that the throttle body reset would not help with my throttle VALVE issue but it did. Follow the key-pedal procedures listed earlier in this forum. They will get rid of both codes.

I hope this helps someone in the future it saved me a lot of time and pain.
