I figured you spend $$$ on all those Bimmerworld aftermarket adjustable links in the rear suspension. The M3 camber links provide better adjustability in negative camber I'm told. Also the bottom of strut is allowed to rotate relative to the link unlike the standard E9X design. I run -1.5° camber at all 4 corners for a neutral feel.

Finally, the aluminum camber arm is stronger and a bit lighter than the standard steel one. You had done many other M3 change overs purely on principle (my take anyway). Of course, it's your money. I'll not bother you on this one anymore.

I did see that you had a change of heart on the M3 cowl. Great addition!

The shock adjusters were too tall for the factory braces so I swapped to the M3 braces and might as well have done the cowl at the same time.

I can get more than -2.0° camber with my current setup so adjustability isn’t a factor. I spent $$ on the custom MCS shocks so while theM3 rear lower arms would be nice, they’d cost me more than just the arm price. I’d need to change the shock mounts and realign. I’m trying to stop spending on the car as it was already way over budget and isn’t really lacking anything other than tweaking the tune and installation of a second CP3 which I already have all the parts for.

I’ll definitely consider the M3 arms in the future but just not good timing for me right now. I always appreciate comments on my builds. Just be to don’t immediately implement them doesn’t mean I don’t, or even that I disagree. There are other reasons at this time. Thank you for the input.

I don't consider 700 "the moon" -- that amount of engine torque (600-650 at the wheels) is typical for properly tuned hybrid turbo 335d cars. Shooting for the moon would be adding nitrous or going with a triple turbo setup coming out soon putting the car closer to 800hp and 1000lb-ft, which intrigues me just for the sheer insanity of it, but given I'm already concerned about the transmission and the cost of upgrading the clutch, flywheel, turbos, injectors, and tune, it's a big ask.

Some updates I haven't posted recently.

I've had a couple more pro photo shoots lately, one on a trip to New England to visit with my friend Larry Kosilla at AMMO NYC, and another at Virginia International Raceway (VIR) with the guys at BimmerWorld (pics not ready yet).

I also have been working with Ryan at BRR tuning, because of the lack of low-end power and other strange driveability issues. The manual transmission is difficult to get right on a vehicle that never existed from BMW even in Europe, but Ryan has me sorted at least 95% at this time. The car pulls hard throughout the rev range and super hard above 3k and I suspect will put down some very good dyno numbers and if I take it to the drag strip, he estimates a trap speed of 119-121 which is very strong.

To avoid down time and slow mail/shipping back and forth, I invested in a bench flash setup and bought a spare DDE. I've since gotten good at the rig and have done bench flashes for a couple other local owners so far.

Ah, I misunderstood I thought the other talking about this car was referring to 700HP, not torque. Makes sense.

I hope everyone is staying healthy and safe and that you all had a great Thanksgiving.

Small update from last week -- finally got a chance to install the dual fuel pump kit from Santjer Performance. Link to product info is here:

Currently my main pump (driven by the timing chain) is the upgraded R90 and my secondary pump (driven by the belt in this kit) is the R70 from our low mileage X5D. This should add a nice margin of safety for the engine and chain and reduce the stress significantly. Perhaps a small hp/tq bump but won't know til the tune is sorted completely.

The kit uses a low pressure Bosch booster pump, installed inline with the main supply, and then after the factory fuel filter, the supply splits into two and each feeds one of the CP3 pumps. They share a return line from there. The engine still runs the same as before, very smooth. Nick installed it for me, and it took several hours taking his time to make it look nice, etc. BRR provided the tune which I'm sure will need a bit of fine tuning.

While we were in there we noticed the throttle body gasket was very compressed so we replaced it along with the entire charge pipe which is showing major signs of age and micro-cracking. Better safe than sorry so we attempt to remove all possible areas of boost leakage.

What would really be awesome is the triple turbo kit plus this and oversize injectors on an X5d. Talk about supercar-SUV...

Hey RedShift, long time lurker here and I have my own e91 n54 manual swap underway. Lol seems like everyone is doing this now!

So I have so of the same problems you had, which is I bought the wrong car (328xi) and did a rwd manual swap.

I came to the same idea of swaping the RWD dsc module and I discovered you need to swap the RWD dsc acceleration sensor as well. (I have a full donor car as well)

Form my reading of the wiring diagrams RWD cars have 3 additional wires in the dsc that are not present in the Awd cars

These wires are as follow:
Parking brake warning switch: pin 38 BL/BR/GE
DSC sensor: pin 39. SW/RT/WS; pin 27 BL/WS/GE


I was wondering if you could shed some light on the Dsc module and how you guys rewired the pins, as well as did you guys end up moving the RWD dsc acceleration sensor as well?
