These cars don't have frames, they are a mass of interconnected panels and rails. The chassis is designed to distribute impact force, which means subtle tweaks to at least half the chassis (like why the door sits so janky). Fixing this isn't just welding in a good chunk, it will probably take that plus extended use of a straightening jig at the least - not really beginner DIY level work. You'll do much better to part it out, or find a solid chassis with a blown motor. If you are only in it for 3600 you may get a lot more out in parts.

Well I'm not really a beginner in these sort of projects but that is true that the damage will probably me more then just the rail. I was looking for a project that would be more interesting then just fixing simple stuff

Step one for this car (after full disassembly) is going to be taking it to a body shop and having the car measured on a proper frame bench. Have them pull that right apron, see what you get. It's pretty wrenched but I've seen worse things than that pull out and be repaired. You might get lucky. I absolutely would not pursue anything on this car without doing that first, it has structural damage.

good luck with your project.

This isn't a project, it's a lost cause and a money pit.

See how the passenger wheel is at an odd angle? All of the suspension parts need to be replaced and the rack and pinion (which alone is $1200 for a re-manufactured BMW unit).

That chassis is gone. You may get it "close enough" to re-assemble, but it will never be as straight or as strong as it was designed to be.

Find another 335i with a blown motor and trash interior. Transplant the good parts from the frame damaged one into it. Part out whatever you don't need. Hope to break even financially.

Project idea: pull the drive train from the 335i and put it into something "interesting" like a C3 Corvette, a Datsun, or an old 2002.

Well I'm aware of the suspension issues it's pretty obvious It needs work. That doesn't really bother me I'll replace what I have to replace. It doesn't matter if it's the entire subframe or just a control arm. It's not a lost cause well, to me it isn't. You guys gotta be more positive about these cars. I'm confident that I can replace and fix everything except the frame which I have a buddy who said he will do it for me. I love bmw which is why I chose it. The best way to approach a car like this in the first place is to think positive and have a plan. My plan is just to f*cking fix everything myself simple as that. I love working on f*cked up cars like the 335 I bought. I'm happy with my purchase

It’s a project car. Don’t care what these guy’s on here have to say. Enjoy your project and keep us updated! As long as its not a daily driver, i don’t see the need for negativity . Some are driving cars that’s been in wrecks but because it’s not documented on Carfax and the body shop fixed it to 99% perfection , then it’s no way the car their driving was in one.

I would say add up what you're going to spend on parts and maybe you can get another donor for about the same amount and make one out both. Sell the parts you don't use

Have fun with it. It will be a good bit of work but the rewards out weigh that. Get a spot weld drill and go to town! I'll enjoy keeping up with the progress!

Frame rail damage !

Hey guys so today I got a quote for what had to be done for the frame rail. The auto body shop said that they would have to replace the entire apron. So they told me to get one from a junk yard and make sure it's properly cut. In total the cost is $300. Now the wheel is fine the reason it's pushed in because the strut shock tower was snapped in half upon collision! So far this is going well ! I'll upload photos later !

Not trying to be negative....but that's really something you should have figured out before you bought the car. Like others have said, to get it fixed right...it's going to cost you much more than you paid for that car.

You could have found a nice running car with no damage for just a little more. I got my 07' 335i for $3,500......and all it really needed to be road ready was a water pump and thermostat.

Hopefully the body shop won't charge you an arm and a leg to do the work.

That's a hard no. It will have a Salvaged Title, probably cost you twice the purchase price to pass Inspection and I'd like to hear what insurance is to drive it.
