WTB: "Value" wheels

My dad's being a complete !%@# and says I should find a set of wheels with "value" instead of these 18" staggered CSL reps that I've been wanting for a while. He complains: Why do you have to get them shipped all the way from California? Can't you find a vendor here? What if there's a problem with the wheels, then you have to ship them all the way back? It costs money to ship them to milwaukee next year blablablablablabla

So, I'm now looking for a set of 18" wheels with "value", preferably OEM so my dad is satisfied that it will "fit" even though the CSL reps are built for BMWs.

I'm posting it in the Mid-Atl section because he says it has to be local. He's gone so low as to suggest using Craigslist for a set of high-quality wheels...

Please PM me any offers you have, thanks. Matt

I`m a bit confused. What do you mean by value? Also, OEM are more expensive than reps. Whats your ultimate goal? Let us know.

Watch the wheel classified forum. I picked up brand new Alufelgen CSL reps from someone in the Leesburg VA area. Met them at the Leesburg outlets, checked out the wheels, and got to take them home without paying any shipping. They are extremley good quality.

Alufelgen is on the east coast (fla). Close enough?

Well as I see it, "value" implies lower price because he's always saving money where possible, especially when he won't be using it. For me, I want as high-quality a wheel I can get without the price being too high for him, as well as being local so there are no shipping costs.

When I was talking about OEM, I was referring to other styles besides CSL such as the 162's, which I am kinda interested in. If I tell him the CSLs I was looking at were replicas he would probably take that as another reason not to buy them.
I had a set of 18" gunmetal staggered CSL reps all lined up and now he just shoots it down.

Sniz, I just feel like he's making up excuses not to buy the wheels. Because I'm moving to milwaukee soon, I need a summer set and winter set. So, for the summer set he says I can get a set of 18" wheels. I was looking at gunmetal CSL reps, but I had a complication with the offsets and then he now has doubts about how the wheel will hold up on the car. I feel that this is a pointless argument because the CSL reps are designed to fit BMWs, and countless people around this forum have fit CSLs with no problem.

I understand that I sound like a spoiled brat, especially with the Craigslist thing, but I'm only looking for wheels, not advice about my life. Matt

how about you go make couple of grand yourself and buy whatever the fuck you want, instead of coming here and calling your dad names, because he does not want to buy you wheels. you winning piano competitions does not mean shit. your dad works for a living and he knows that money don't fall from the sky. maybe you would learn it one day too.

and no, you don't NEED to have 2 sets of wheels. 2 sets of tires will be sufficient enough.

i swear, if my kid would ever act like you, i will take the fucking car away and sell it.

why just stick to MD? if the goal is to avoid shipping, then look at VA, PA, NJ and meet them halfway.

also, how the hell would he know if they were reps or OEM?

you dont need 2 sets of wheels. You need 2 sets of tires. I would say 1 set of All-season if you were not in Milwaukee

why don't you buy them? My parents get mad with all the stuff I've done to my car. But I've bought everything myself so they can't really complain. And I put it all on myself so I save money on installation

So many kids have no concept of earning something themselves anymore. By earning I mean you put your effort and sweat into making a buck and pay for it your damned self. You are driving around a BMW, which one can only infer your parents paid for, and you when daddy wont foot for wheel 'x'...

How about you jump in my shoes, I drove a 1980 Chevy Malibu Classic for 6 years, paid for my own way through college and worked my way to getting this BMW I own now. Like others have said, get a job and pay for them yourself. I'm sure most everyone else here can lay down similar stories how they EARNED their toys.

Rather than sit here and complain, abide by your father's stipulations and find a local set of wheels. Find someone local selling wheels, go to wheel shops (there are plenty) and basically do a little leg work and find wheels which meet your satisfaction along with your father's guidelines. Oh and you hit the nail right on the damn head with a sledge hammer. You are acting like a spoiled brat.

By the way, how old are you?

Wow!

Dad is offering to buy you rims and tires and your bitching. How about thanking your dad for the offer and play him a fucking song on that piano?

This kid isn't the brightest...

A. Probably not smart to mention "Dad" as any reason on here for anything, you will get flamed (you already did)

B. Winning Piano competitions, unless its paying thousands of dollars again probably should be left out of your responses.

Now, get a job, make some money, and when your kid wants expensive wheels you may realize how smart your dad is. For now, be thankful you even have this car.

I worked on a cash basis for three summers (1984-1986), for peanuts when I was 13-15 years old) to save up $1500 to buy a piece of junk '71 firebird as my first car(that still needed more money to pass inspection).

I can post a picture, but it sure ain't no BMW, and I was lucky it ran for a couple of years to get me to another job to afford my next car.

3 full summers as a home and business, alarm installation helper. Crawling around in attics and crawl spaces.

This thread is full of win. Question. What the h*ll is a staggered set of 18s gonna do for you in the winter? May just keep that curb you are going to hit in the snow that much further from the rocker panel.
