I own a e90 -2011 328i X Drive - I recently put on a BMW performance exhaust because I do not want to mess with my factory warranty at all & I am very happy with the exhaust. I would like to improve the throttle response and add some additional sound, so I figured the next step is the BMW performance intake.

I know I can buy the OEM performance intake online for $735 shipped but I was looking for either a used bmw intake or any suggestions on a cheaper site or a cheaper route that would provide the same effects but would not screw with my warrant.

FYI aftermarket exhaust does not void the entire warranty, only the portion that relates to the exhaust.

Checkout the Euro N52 intake out. It's OEM from Europe, offers better performance than our intakes and is a factory part.

m9bm Thanks for the response but I am not worried about the exhaust for I have a bmw OEM performance exhaust on my 328 now. I am looking for a used OEM performance intake or a cheaper version intake that will no mess with my warranty

BlueA2GTI that is a great option I appreciate the feedback. My question is since it's a Euro part on a US BMW will it mess with my warranty or negatively affect the car?

I just looked up the BMW performance intake and wow expensive. Definitely not worth the $$ for such minor HP gains, IMO. Pretty much any aftermarket intake will be fine. I had a simple K&N cone filter on my previous e36 328i, cost me $50 or so.

If you're that worried about it, just call your dealership and ask if aftermarket intake would be OK. I doubt the majority of places would even mention it if found during maintenance, but attitudes regarding mods/warranties do seem to vary from place-to-place. You could always just drop a high-flow K&N filter into your stock box. Or, install the aftermarket intake without asking and take 10 minutes to switch back to the stock airbox before dealer visits (honestly would be my choice )

+1 for the Eurobox. I've been running mine for a couple years now. If you're patient and find a seller that will ship to you they can be had for less than $100 through the German eBay. Looks way better than the stock box, increases airflow, makes filter changes easy as pie and maintains warranty.

Only shmucks get sucked in to paying that kind of money for an intake on a 328i. Just buy a nice one from AFE or something and swap it out if you need to go to the dealer. It takes 10 minutes to do... Or buy the euro box since I doubt BMW will void a warranty due to a factory part.

As a former 328 owner please understand you are wasting a tremendous amount of money on something that will not have any improvment.

If you want, do the charcoal filter delete, and that's about all I can think of that might be worth it (and that's only because its free)

fravel I appreciate the input and the Euro is a great option. I do not know too much about the Euro option but I found it for sale for $370. As long as it will not effect my warranty or cause any service lights & will prove some increase in throttle response and louder sound I'm very interested in purchase.

smithf32 brewnami I totally agree that paying $700-$1000 for an air intake from BMW is completely ridiculous and that is why I posted this thread to hopefully find a slightly used bmw performance intake for cheaper or to learn what other good options are out there that will provide some increased throttle response and add some more sound to my exhaust note.

I am a new BMW owner (have been an Audi guy for years) and I need some advice on providing performance parts that will not effect my certified warranty.

I think you're misunderstanding their point. It's not ridiculous to by a performance intake, it's ridiculous to buy a performance intake for a 328i. The performance increase will be negligible for a naturally aspirated engine so that it is not worth any money to add it to your car. That's my understanding of the responses so far.

Also be aware the the K&N filter supplied with the BMW Perf. Intake is NLA. K&N will not sell it as it is a proprietary item and BMW hasn't released the rights on the part...and won't sell it either. (I'm one of the schmucks that bought one back in 2010 for my e91)
I would suggest the EURO version with round filter.
It is a nice combination with the BMW Perf. exhaust.

Spend the money on an AA tune and headers. This is the only way you will see gains.

I'm selling a Euro intake...with the K & N filter as well as a modified Snorkel I was going to use...so there is a small hole on the box to fit it in.

Anyhow, I wouldn't bother with the STOCK Euro intake - I tested 4 different intakes on the dyno and the BEST made 6whp over stock. For those gains, you're better off spending that money on a tune, 3 stage manifold and headers.

Afe stage 2 "inclosed " intake (does not have maf problems like their other ones and no heatsoak like open ones) if you want to add some growl. You will not see any performance increase.
Had on my for two years with PE and been in for warranty service and they did not say anything about it.
Doesn't make ricer sound either. Nice growl from front to match sound of exhaust.
