Mechatronic Sleeve locking mechanism gap
I changed the shift solenoids in 2006 330i ZF transmission and sealing sleeves and am putting everything back together.
The Mechatronic Sealing Sleeve I managed to get in, lock plastic lock mechanism in place and got the electrical end screwed on until it clicked. However, according to the ZF manual the space between the body of the transmission and the screw on clip should be 2.5 to 3 MM and I have about 6-7MM. I have the sleeve pushed in all the way until can see the line shown in the image. Is this part supposed to be pushed in further? |

Yep, it wasn't in all the way.
Took it out again, lubed the orings and plastic with some silicone lubricant that porn stars use and got it in all the way now. I get lots of use out of this stuff, solves lots of household problems. I'm wondering how it allowed me to lock the plastic clip into the lock position without being fully in.. so much for fancy German engineering. Added about 4 liters of fluid now to cold engine before it started coming out of the hole. I have 3 more liters left in my pressure sprayer. I'm wondering if that will be enough for when I start engine. When I took out mechatronic thing and replaced the solenoids I probably lost another 1/4 liter of fluid. |

I usually take a running start but good to know that works too.
