Just an FYI for everyone, I purchased and replaced the power steering fluid with Liqui Moly Top Tec ATF 1800 Transmission Fluid.

I have had no issues to date.

But why. Just use the new fluid your car should need?

I bought this fluid because I can use it in the transmission as well. This way I wouldn't have any leftovers that would sit around for too long. I ended up flushing about <1.5 litres of fluid. I accidentally over drained it on the last shot, which is exactly what I was worried I would do.

Now I can use it up in the tranny when I replace my fluid in a month or so.

335stoner - any issues with the PS fluid type swap since 2018?

My 335d had few owners before me, PS fluid looks bad, can not really tell what is there now. factory cap says ATF only.

I have new ZF reservoir (which now says CHF11S only) and 2 liters of CHF11S leftovers from my E91/E70 PS service.

My plan was full drain of whatever is there now and refill with CHF11S.

Any reason not to use CHF11S on the E90 335d?

The transmission of the 335D is a 6HP26x (6HP28) manufactured by ZF. I just replaced my transmission fluid with ZF longlife 6 which is the recommended fluid by ZF for BMWs and is what was originally in the transmission when new. If you want a color comparison of the fluid color of the power steering fluid now to the original color. The color of the new ZF long life 6 is a very light honey brown color. It looks like a weak tea color or a very light colored motor oil. It is almost colorless. The new long life 6 is also strong smelling so don't go by smell unless your fluid smells burnt.
I plan on replacing my power steering fluid and will use the ZF long life 6 fluid (as recommended by BMW). I figure that you can not go wrong using what is recommended by BMW. Something else like Yahz's recommendation of CF11s might be better. But, I know the long life 6 will be compatible with the existing fluid.
Note: Most people never flush or change their power steering fluid. Power steering fluid and rear axle oil most neglected fluids in vehicles.

Using LG6 as power steering fluid is baller. That stuff isn't cheap.
